When in Marathon in order to avoid the Persian arrows they marched in silence and when they reached the range of the arrows they run toward the enemies and used a very nice tactic in order to crush the enemies also they had the information that persian Cavalry was missing in order to raid so they took the opportunity and crashed the enemies

Top credit to our contributor for this. Sabaton should have been the music. This gem of a film did not get the respect it deserved. Its fun like Conan the Barbarian. The fact is the Persians (mighty as they were) came unstuck against the Classical Greek City States. If they had Sabaton it would have been a massacre

Historically, as the Spartans said it, this was a huge mistake to kill Darius. It ended up making his son ,who really wasnt much of a leader, scholar, diplomat, soldier, or advisor, into the accursed Xerxes. Who himself was conquered by an alliance of the city states of Greece at Platea.
@kelleysmith61462 жыл бұрын
Well in their first place, if your going to correct someone that's fine, but have your own fact straight. I can own up to the fact I got it wrong. But if your are going be an ass and say "learn some history". Then learn your own, in the first place Darius the great had not "died an old man". He actually died due to failing health after a revolt in Egypt around 486 BCE. That was after the defeat at Marathon by Datis. Whose taking it seriously? You sure did when you wanted to act like a Rhodes Scholar. Be more accurate and educate someone, not put them down with little comments.

Sabaton actually has a song about the 300 Spartans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np6QgYeVe8l0gLc Resist and Bite is about the Chasseurs Ardennais. A small Belgian unit of soldiers who were supposed to defend the borders and hold their ground along the K-W Line in May 1940. When the German armies, which included Rommel’s Ghost Division, approached the unit, they were supposed to retreat but due to communication failure the order never reached them. Instead they honoured their original orders, which were to defend the border at all cost. They fought so bravely and on such a large front, that they tricked the axis into believing that they were facing a force much larger than 40 rifles strong. When finally they were captured and their captors asked them -”where are the others?” they simply laughed and answered. -”There are no others, we are all!”. The song gets its title from their motto Resiste Et Mords, in English, Resist and Bite.

Nice strong music...its about the battle of Marathon 490b.c . It was the first invasion of Persian empire in Greece by the father of Xerxis, Darius. If you ever visit Greece Athens you should visit the Marathon place and museum. There is the Tomb of Athenians the place that burried the fighters died in that battle. The energy there makes you feel that you turn yourself back 2500 years in the past. The feeling is simple fantastic.

@drscorpio10942 жыл бұрын
Those cavemen historically held the Persians back so efficiently they turned around and left Greece, TWICE. Those cavemen had created one of history’s most well known and powerful battle tactic, some of those tactics used in modern day warfare and police actions. Plus, they didn’t save the Jews. They were slaves that were treated slightly better than before, actually throughout history the Jews weren’t treated horribly, it was through some time periods they were, those are most notable because they were harsh. That’s because the Jews talked too much, way way too much, literally the first monotheistic religion and they expect not to get bullied? Idiotic. Back to the Persians. Yes they were a powerful force, and they did use good tactics, one such example was the immortal solider. Masked soldiers recognized as immortal because they were all identical one fell for another to step up. But with each conquest ego grows and you spread yourself thin, of course a small and efficient warrior culture that literally wars with itself on a near daily basis is going to beat a bunch of egotistical soldiers. Especially in this scene, if you’re caught off guard and you’re army isn’t landed a group of 300 soldiers catching you off guard could easily slaughter a few thousand because most of them probably aren’t properly armed or are preparing for the next ship to come in. You can see it through history examples of similar situations, granted none ever go this well but they still do go exceptionally well. Catching your enemy off guard will literally always be a good strategy.
