NWT bush girl. Very grateful for my way of life and a good practical rifle. My Vortex scope is amazing. Had a 270 with a flip scope on that, it was super accurate but my 300 is wonderful ❤

New to the .300 win mag. I’ve always wanted one, and recently purchased a Bergara premier Highlander. I started as a kid with a 30.06 using 165 gr. Centurion Sporter (sporterized Mauser k98). Rifle season starts next week. I know accuracy trumps brand, but what grain would you say is best for whitetail deer? I live in eastern NC, so the deer aren’t massive. A 200lbs buck is a real nice one weight wise. I see a lot of people favor 180 gr for the .300. Thanks in advance.

Really depends on what the rifle likes. Buy a couple of different brands and try some groupings at 100 yards. I do hand loads for my 300 and you can have the same grain and brand bullet in a different design shoot completely different. Mine likes the green nosler 180 ballistic tips but if I try to shoot the white core loks it shoots like shit. Just gotta shoot it.

Inside of 500 yards for whitetail, a bonded or monolithic 165grain will be golden, any farther and a 180+ will be your ticket.

Hello. I reload for my 300wm. I use 180gr Nosler partition, H1000 powder, Federal magnum primers and various brass, for moose here in Canada. I don't hunt anything else. Depending on what you're hunting, you can choose from 150gr to 200 gr ammo. There are far too many choices without knowing what you use it for. Hope this helps some. Stay safe.

Depend on your twist of the Barrel. 300 Win Mag comes mostly in 1:10 Twist. Allmost everyone i spoke to says that twist requires a Heavy Bullet. So i am Using Hornady 212gr ELD-X - I dropped my Speed to 2630fps so what that does is it increases your Barrel life, and at the same time gives a Good Punch without any Meet Damage. That Work Wonderfull for me

The best bullet i used in my 300 mag was the 165gr failsafe thats no longer made. I tried 21 different rounds and weights none grouped like the 165. I use the hornady 150gr now

I just watched a video on Facebook but I don’t dare comment on that site and risk being cancelled. A guy posted a video where he hit a very large bull moose within a hundred yards 4 times using a .300 Win Mag with 180 grain bullets. All four hits were high lung shots. Anyways, the first shot was clearly a very solid, fatal hit and the bull really didn’t need any more. However, the hunter’s guide was telling him that he was missing and to shoot again because the moose was just standing still; which he did. The moose was dead on its feet and never did take another step, he just stood for about 60 seconds and then fell over. The comments section is FILLED with people calling him an unethical hunter, along with any other demeaning anti-masculine terms they could come up with. Apparently, unless an animal drops dead INSTANTLY, the person is an unethical hunter. So many people just don’t understand that animals can be dead on their feet and most don’t die instantly from a bullet. I’ve seen Whitetail deer run well over a hundred yards with a heart that was completely destroyed with the shot! If they think that a moose standing their for one minute is unethical and horrible, I would LOVE to know how much they adore nature and are “animal lovers” watching a video of coyotes eating out a moose from the back end for HOURS while the moose is still alive. They love nature alright, as long as it’s the cute parts. The other stuff though; the realistic part where nature can be extremely cruel? Yeah, they want all those videos banned because it doesn’t support their Disney narrative of animals all playing around and going on adventures with each other- and none of them ever eat meat.

I shot my first moose at 228 yards with a 308, my reloads, 165gr Speer boat tail. It went in the right side, through a rib, shredded both lungs, and through another rib leaving. The 308, I feel, is very underrated. I have used them over 40 years.
