@@bru2298 Brazilian Portuguese isn't proper Portuguese to European Portuguese speakers. It's been referred to as the "ghetto" way of speaking Portuguese (no hate on Brazilian people at all). I've just heard several Portuguese people say this.

I'm just beginning. I can speak some Spanish so many words look familiar. But I am having a very difficult with the pronunciation of the letters. Sometimes the D sounds like Ji and sometimes like Da. And Thi or ti sounds like chi...and does the "m" in words like "Bom" sound like an "n"? Does the "r' sometimes sound like an "h" sound (ie. repitirar)? I'd appreciate any comments or assistance. pronunciation of ‘di’ at the start of the word. pronunciation of ‘de’ alone or at the end of the word (cidade, onde) - can also be at the beginning of many words like (desculpa, descobrir) but not (demorar, devo). this pronunciation stuff is regional so it’s possible to hear the ‘de’ as in Spanish and the ‘gee’ version depending on where you are in Brazil.

Yes, true. It is still good for learning vocabulary. A class with a teacher is best or learning the language living in the country.
