Love the video, love the set up minus one component. Your scope. If you continue to stretch out your shots ( which I approve of) maybe a more technical scope is in order? Just a thought. Also, do not be afraid to build your next custom rifle yourself. I like your taste in fine rifles, and calibers. Might I also suggest something in 6mm. Perhaps a 6 arc or 6 GT? You are not the only one out there thinning the herd legally this summer in MI. One more suggestion if I may? Drone deer recovery, as in the main transportation from field to meat processing transportation vehicle. Happy trails my friend. Would love to buy you breakfast someday.

Thanks for the comment. The scope on the long shot was one that I had sitting around and I put it on when my VX5 had some issues and had to be sent back. If you’ll notice, it’s back on for the two final kills with CDS reticle for longer shots. I have a Burris Veracity PH on another rifle that I’m testing right now and it seems to be awesome for longer shots. I’ve got a variety of custom rifles to choose from in my gun case. A couple I’ve done work on myself. But, I’m not a machinist so I leave the fine details to those who can do that type of work. Trigger jobs, bedding and other less technical parts of the build I enjoy doing. Being from southern Michigan, I have too many necked cartridge rifles to shoot very often. I have contemplated a 6mm but I would shoot it so rarely that I don’t know if I’ll end up building one. If so, I’d probably do a 6mm Dasher. I really wish the DNR would allow pistols during crop damage. Then I’d really be able to bring out some of my fun toys!

Thank you for the video. I appreciate you explaining the rifle components. Im working on my own build. Hope you won’t mind a couple of questions. What are some your barrel length and what bullet are you using? Also, who was your gun smith? Subscribed

I went with a finished length of 20” for my barrel because I knew I was gonna use a suppressor and didn’t want it too long. And it couldn’t be too short with the magnum cartridge with most suppressors. So that’s the reasoning behind the length for mine. I used Bear Creek Ballistics (Battle Creek, MI) for my build. They do high quality builds.

@@FullQuiverOutdoors thank you so much for your reply! Are you pleased with the velocities you are getting from the 20” barrel? Would you mind sharing. Truly….im trying to decide bt a 20” 300wsm or a 22” 7prc with a folding chassis. Will def run a “Q Trash Panda” suppressor. Headed to Wyoming in 2025. Thanks again… your footage was excellent.

@@milo555100yeah, I’m completely satisfied with my build. Weve taken something like 18 big game animals with it and it’s only a year old. Very happy with my choices and glad I went with a short action rifle. I may have lost a tad bit of velocity but I could care less. It handles much better being a little shorter, especially with a can on it. I would hate to add more length. The can actually gives me another 20-25fps when it’s on. I’m a reloaded so as much as I love the 7prc, I like the reduced powder consumption of the .300wsm and the short action better. I was contemplating the 7prc as well when I built mine. I was worried about brass availability too being it was so new and I had an African safari coming up.

I got all the components together and Bear Creek Ballistics did the machining, chambering and assembly for me. I’m not a machinist so I really can’t do that sort of work.

Is that 300WSM SAAMI or the 300WSM - long? It's my favorite 300 magnum. Looks like excellent components.

I had it built in a short action if that’s what you are asking. I wanted it to be as light as possible and it’s an efficient case being short and fat.

Do you have to have a permit or special purchase permit or pay for a tax stamp to buy or use a suppressor in Michigan?

It’s the same across the US. You need a $200 tax stamp to purchase a suppressor.

He lets quite a few people hunt actually. The DNR requires the farmers to allow hunters or else they won’t issue tags. Of course there will be some that lie about this but this farmer isn’t one of them

@blauer2551
@blauer2551 Ай бұрын
@@timmytim6427 Problem is the BS corn and soybeans is what the buyers want. The seed for it isn’t cheap either, about $186 per bag and we need lots of it. Needed 120 bags (2 pallets) and that’s for a small farm. Fertilizer, diesel, man hours, expensive parts, herbicide, fungicide, second application of fertilizer, then harvest. The whole years income depends on crop prices and government policies at that point and damage from animals and weather just adds to it. We’re not making all the money one might think. Still better than working for someone else.
