This is stunning. Most "monster" fish systems look sterile in their attempts to control water chemistry and provide swim room. This is anything but. Well done. I usually favor planted tanks with "nano" fish or Reef systems, but this is simply eye catching.

ok I vote this tank one of the best planted sweet water tanks out there .... it seems to be quite a natural and nicely under stocked tank .... not too bright and the sand with all the bits and pieces on and leafs floating on top makes it so natural .... the tank is awesome I am obviously at a loss of words here ....

Hey Lars, a natural ecosystem look with all real materials is what I am going after. @@AquariumDomain. I only have planted tanks and the thing I am after is to recreate nature therefore I do not use any co2, heaters, filters, ferts and so on ... I do 50% water changes once a week tho.... I only have fish that can deal with 15°C or 60°F .... so for me the magic is to see a fogged up tank transform into a cristal clear tank after only three to 4 weeks .... I guess it is already cycled then. since u obviously cannot do water changes u need this filter system u showed in ur video. I am wondering now how many plants and how few fish u would need to go with if there wouldnt be a filter .... I know without water changes it wont be possible but I cant help but thinking about a 3000 gallon tank now without the tech lol ... hmmm I have an empty 1000 sqft basement... now what could I possibly do with that.... oh I do have a planted koi tank and these dirty critters wont make it without a filter and "added" oxygen... still the plants do the heavy lifting lol... btw the yellow dim looking tank feels perfect when thinking about the amazon.... worked for me....

I really love this tank. I have an 85g planted tank but I have always yearned for a tank like this. What an amazing expression of your passion for the hobby! My hopefully helpful tip is this: lilies hate current as it ties them up in knots and prevents them from spreading out and collecting the light they need to thrive. Liked and subbed!

Hey Todd! Oh yeah it has been tricky trying to space out the lilies and the water flow pumps to make everything happy. Since this video was filmed I have changed the aquascape pretty substantially. Hey Bunny Viper! Thanks so much for the kind words and welcome to the channel! Congrats on the 180, I love the footprint on that size aquarium. Unfortunately I do not have any videos on setting up aquarium sumps :-( I tend to make a lot of my own aquariums and they are generally quite a bit larger than most folks have, so I think my filtration setups while great for me would not be practical for most people. There must be someone that has a video on setting up sumps...I know there are a lot of good aquarium youtube channels that cover aquarium equipment....off the top of my head I think I recall corvus oscen doing a sump build video and also kg tropicals...additionally I know Bulk Reef Supply and Aquarium Coop do a lot of equipment videos as well. Maybe as a last resort you could hire a local aquarium maintenance service for a one time sump installation / training to get you up to speed. Good luck with the tank, I know you will enjoy it once it is up and running! :-)

Needs an arowana! But I love the aquascaping, the rockwork and the lilypad! Honestly one of the best tanks on youtube especially over 1000+ gallons. How many watts are you using to heat the tank? And do you add any additives for the plants?
@AquariumDomain.
@AquariumDomain. 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Thomas! I heat the entire fish basement and only use heaters in the tanks as a backup. I have pond baskets built into the substrate that has fluorite for root feeders, no other additives (other than fish waste, etc.). I have a video coming very soon that shows how the whole thing was built.

Just like an overflow box, just the "box" part is a tube on each side. The inner pvc pipe is like the "J" tube or "U" tube on a standard overflow box.

Niiiiice tank Bhai...just one question how do u deal with the possible methane gas build up with that kind of sand height in ur tank??? What precautions and how often do u have to stir it up??
@AquariumDomain.
@AquariumDomain. 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kishan, The things helping keep methane gas buildup from occurring are that my tank has about a 2 inch sand bed and lot's of oxygenated water moving over it. Additionally I have big Cichlids that like to dig and keep the substrate turned. I think the risk with methane gas buildup is if a lot of it is released all at one time, like what could happen doing a gravel vac, etc. I don't do gravel vac or anything like that, so if some methane gas was released it should be very small amounts compared to the 3000 gallon water volume of the tank.

@AquariumDomain.
@AquariumDomain. 6 ай бұрын
My marine tanks have sumps that are 33 feet long and 21 feet long. I designed them to have an initial aerobic zone and then an extremely long path of media that is not exposed to light and should ultimately be exposed to water with depleted oxygen levels based on the bacteria in the initial aerobic zone using it up. At this stage I should have the conditions for anaerobic bacteria to thrive and as they use nitrate as part of their metabolic process they should export it from my system. I can say that the current 1800 gallon Predator Bay has been running for almost 4 years and the nitrates are extremely low even with the very high bio-load of large sharks, rays & groupers. So much so that I haven't even run the protein skimmer in 2 years and still the nitrate levels stay around 5 to 10ppm.

Never too late to comment on a video 😊 The tank and sump are large enough to support all of those fish, even added to what is already in there, but eventually the Redtail Catfish would eat some of the other fish once it reached mature size.

First off, definitely build something like this in the future if you can...as much as I dreamed about this tank for many years, I am enjoying it even more than I thought I would! As far as cost goes I tried not to keep track so that I didn't second guess building it :-) but I will try to give you a rough breakdown: Glass $1k, Pond Armor Epoxy Paint $850, Fiberglass & Resin $300, Wood, screws, fasteners, etc. $4k, Aquascaping material (rock, sand, wood) $1k. Also I built the tank over a 4-5 month period so costs were spread out over time.
