@@AquariumDomain. I only have planted tanks and the thing I am after is to recreate nature therefore I do not use any co2, heaters, filters, ferts and so on ... I do 50% water changes once a week tho.... I only have fish that can deal with 15°C or 60°F .... so for me the magic is to see a fogged up tank transform into a cristal clear tank after only three to 4 weeks .... I guess it is already cycled then. since u obviously cannot do water changes u need this filter system u showed in ur video. I am wondering now how many plants and how few fish u would need to go with if there wouldnt be a filter .... I know without water changes it wont be possible but I cant help but thinking about a 3000 gallon tank now without the tech lol ... hmmm I have an empty 1000 sqft basement... now what could I possibly do with that.... oh I do have a planted koi tank and these dirty critters wont make it without a filter and "added" oxygen... still the plants do the heavy lifting lol... btw the yellow dim looking tank feels perfect when thinking about the amazon.... worked for me....

There must be someone that has a video on setting up sumps...I know there are a lot of good aquarium youtube channels that cover aquarium equipment....off the top of my head I think I recall corvus oscen doing a sump build video and also kg tropicals...additionally I know Bulk Reef Supply and Aquarium Coop do a lot of equipment videos as well. Maybe as a last resort you could hire a local aquarium maintenance service for a one time sump installation / training to get you up to speed. Niiiiice tank Bhai...just one question how do u deal with the possible methane gas build up with that kind of sand height in ur tank??? What precautions and how often do u have to stir it up??
@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kishan, The things helping keep methane gas buildup from occurring are that my tank has about a 2 inch sand bed and lot's of oxygenated water moving over it. Additionally I have big Cichlids that like to dig and keep the substrate turned. I think the risk with methane gas buildup is if a lot of it is released all at one time, like what could happen doing a gravel vac, etc. I don't do gravel vac or anything like that, so if some methane gas was released it should be very small amounts compared to the 3000 gallon water volume of the tank.

Do u feed the bacteria in the denitrification filter. I built several one that was sulfur fed and the other uncut full grain alcohol. I lost my supplier of alcohol so I had to shut it down. It is a 700 gallon African cichlid tank. Nice job on your tanks and I’m enjoying the videos.

My marine tanks have sumps that are 33 feet long and 21 feet long. I designed them to have an initial aerobic zone and then an extremely long path of media that is not exposed to light and should ultimately be exposed to water with depleted oxygen levels based on the bacteria in the initial aerobic zone using it up. At this stage I should have the conditions for anaerobic bacteria to thrive and as they use nitrate as part of their metabolic process they should export it from my system. I can say that the current 1800 gallon Predator Bay has been running for almost 4 years and the nitrates are extremely low even with the very high bio-load of large sharks, rays & groupers. So much so that I haven't even run the protein skimmer in 2 years and still the nitrate levels stay around 5 to 10ppm.

Awesome tank! Have you thought about adding a fish to turn over the bottom to make it less stagnant?
@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rufus! Yeah the sand bed was looking a bit rough when this video was filmed lol. I have made a lot of tweaks and additions to the tank since then and in the next video on this tank you we see the progression of the tank and the ecosystem maturing quite a bit. I may have also added some bottom dwellers :-)

Hey sir! Commenting after 3 years but just was curious if we were to build the same kind of tank with same dimensions, would it be enough for dovi wolf cichlids jaguar cichlids arowanas red tail with all those cichlids?
@AquariumDomain.2 күн бұрын
Never too late to comment on a video 😊 The tank and sump are large enough to support all of those fish, even added to what is already in there, but eventually the Redtail Catfish would eat some of the other fish once it reached mature size.

This is my dream tank! May I ask how much this cost? Not gonna lie, I'm basing my college major on being something that allows me to afford jumbo tanks one day lol.
@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
First off, definitely build something like this in the future if you can...as much as I dreamed about this tank for many years, I am enjoying it even more than I thought I would! As far as cost goes I tried not to keep track so that I didn't second guess building it :-) but I will try to give you a rough breakdown: Glass $1k, Pond Armor Epoxy Paint $850, Fiberglass & Resin $300, Wood, screws, fasteners, etc. $4k, Aquascaping material (rock, sand, wood) $1k. Also I built the tank over a 4-5 month period so costs were spread out over time.

@@AquariumDomain. That is not too bad for sush a massive tank. I guess the real cost is the house for the tank haha.

there are only 2 FX6 pumps for all filtration? or is there some other additional filtration? Caution water leak at 3''58 minutes ;-)
@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
The FX6's are just for water polishing, the real filtration is the 22 foot long sump :-) Also in progress of upgrading the overflows to triple the flow of water going to the sump!

@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry! I love Rays and hope to keep them one day, but unfortunately they would destroy all my live plants if I put them in the 3000 gallon. I have some plans in the works that if they work out I will make another large Amazonian aquarium and it will have Rays for sure. :-)

What kind of heaters do you use and how many watts
@AquariumDomain.3 жыл бұрын
Hey Diors! I heat the entire basement and not individual tanks, but I do have 2000 watts of BRS titanium heaters in the 3000 gallon as a backup heat source in case the mini split heating the room has any problems.
