My Grandfather was a resident of Andorra. Best thing about it was his heated driveway. Yes, that’s right. Take your lift down to the heated, underground garage, get in your car and drive up the heated driveway that’s already clear of snow. One could also park in a lay-by, put one’s skis on and ski down to the lift. Great carnivore restaurants and high quality of life. It’s quite a pleasant place to live.

Thanks for documenting how beautiful Europe is, and how Euro roadtrips are such a high value in our lives. As a fellow European I did another trip from NL to Maranello early november, just to find out everyone else in my group took a flight: they missed out so much. I've done these trips since iv'e got my drivers licence 20+ years ago with everything from old E36's to Old Honda Concerto's to S4's and a manual Gallardo, any car you can take will fulfil the promise of creating beautiful memories. Plus what you did with your camera, sharing them and keeping them for when we are old and frail. I can only applaud you and of course our current inspiration Harry Metcalfe to keep making long road trips with anything that has wheels :)

I'd love to see a historic site tour. I'm currently planning next summers trip for myself and my partner in crime, my wife. The route will take in the Black Forrest and then on down to Austria and then return via the Italian Lakes. You are so right about the car, we did 2500 mile trip through Europe last year in a fairly 'ropey' MGF. It was a fantastic trip and the memories that are associated with that car will live with us forever. We've since bought a BMW 440i Convertible and we are really looking forward to the trip next year.

OK, here it goes: the perfect drive must be when you have no stress/ worries on your mind. The weather must be nice. It can be alone or with someone ( 1 or 2 other people in other cars perhaps). It needs to be where there is little traffic. B-roads/ mountain roads with OK surface. Best is when it is not just a drive but you are on your way to something ( a holiday, a conference and so on). I have many drives in Norway and Sweden where you can drive a long time without seeing other people ( at least early sunday morning. Sometimes I drive 20-30 minutes without seeing any other cars on the road). I feel like I have the world to myself. And I drive both fast and slow. So not driving like a racecar-driver the whole time, but also not driving in places where you have to worry about the police the entire time.

A big step up in cinematography, especially the beginning. Music, for me, not so much. Road trip with history, would be up for that. So,so right about the type of car not being THAT important for a road trip, but the trip itself. Did a similar trip (to the South of France) in our Daihatsu Copen, a few years ago. Still memorable, although the Millau viaduct, was shrouded in fog and torrential rain😢

Wow, what a tremendous piece of work. It's much to your credit James. Loved to drone work by the way. You can see how much the vista shots add to a production like this, with the backing track too. Just fab. Absolutely right about what makes the trip and the video special, the people, the roads, the scenery and the stop-off points. Harry Metcalfe does them beautifully, but now you have joined him. The only thing I'd say to add would have been some more from the people and cars you met in Andorra. They were afterall, the reason you went. We only got a glimpse. Involving channel fans a little would also be a great thing. I really hope you can manage to do a few of these each year. I really appreciate this video, James-it’s clear a ton of effort went into producing it! Watching the winding roads of Andorra reminds me a lot of the ones I drive in and around Pike National Forest, southwest of Denver, Colorado. It’s easy to imagine how the early French trappers and Spanish explorers might have felt at home here, with Colorado’s rugged landscapes resembling the rocky, slightly more arid terrain of Andorra. When I was 16, I cut my teeth on those roads in my 1976 Buick/Opel/Isuzu coupe (aka the Isuzu Gemini). Road & Track wasn’t too kind, calling it "built to a price" and "one of their least favorite cars" that year, but I didn’t care. It was MY private jet, taking me from the "fruited plain" of the Front Range to the "purple mountain majesty" of the Foothills in under 20 minutes. After high school classes, I’d often opt for the scenic route home, winding through Deer Creek and Turkey Creek Canyons before descending High Grade Road. A car like the 430 Scud would be somewhat of a waste of carbon fiber here - just an easy ticket to jail. Most folks who own ~super-ish cars in these parts probably keep an attorney on permanent retainer! Cheers, and thanks again for the great video.
