Now I am not totally sure, but I believe that the Romans believed the bow to be a cowardly weapon, and most refused to use it themselves, however they did have auxiliary troops that would use skirmish tactics more often.

Romans like to use there Spears well, the spear sere about a 6 foot wooden staff, with a 2 foot long hasta or Lancea use to penetrate shields or armor, you'd think that the enemy could just it back, but the romans used something (Forgot what its called) For when they throw it and it heats the Hasta so once it hits it's target the hasta would Bend so it wouldn't be of use anymore. Clever but deadly. (Edit was a misspelled word.)

If only Rome had tactics like these, they would've still lived. I mean they had many other problems, but a major one was the vikings picking off their army bit by bit. Allocating 3K legions to a General, and spreading the other legions throughout the Empire would've been better. But, uh.... The Roman Army wasn't very efficient after their peak due to how big the Empire was. I absolutely love the Roman Empire, and if I had a time machine, the one place I would go back to is the 117 AD. Although, I would probs die of diease soon after as my immune system would get overwhelmed.

Egyptians had to attack from every side. Roman's advantage was wall formation but their number is so low. If idiotic ai attacked from all sides they could win. Also Roman's guna be exhausted no matter they are elite or etc. So if you have more soldiers you have to use this advantage.
