Great video, Grumpus!! I dropped a like on this video yesterday evening and I'm finally back to watch!! I love that you used mesquite for this cook, thanks for the tips on the best way to use it. I'm back to using many old-school gadgets in my cooking too, just can't beat the reliability of some things!! 7 hours of cooking time is a labor of love, but boy did that end result look worth it!! Thank you for the kind words Marcelle! I love cooking with mesquite… just hasn’t been easy for me to find it around here, at a realistic price. I truly love using all the new technology. But, we still need to be able to function without it, if need be. I think I hit the brisket lottery on this one! It cooked up really nice. Thanks for all your support all these years. Howdy Grumpus. Seriously, congratulations on hitting the 3,000 subscribers mark. I'm very happy for you. Now about that brisket, absolutely wonderful. I'm getting more and more convinced to go with the 10 lb or so briskets. They just cook up so nice and quick, more moist, and less fat to meat ratio. And so you know your video is the first video I have watched on my new big tablet ( it's new because I had to replace my last tablet. Guess who left his former tablet on the top of my car before heading to work yesterday? Yuppers, not one of my better moments. Anyway great to see you put up a video. Have a great day 😀 👍🔥🍻

Thanks for stopping by Barry. Yes, I have a Kindling Cracker and it works very well. However… I went cheap and bought the small (6.5in. inside dia. top ring) unit. At some point I’ll get the XL Size (9in. inside dia. top ring). A lot of my splits will not fit in the small size ring, and I end up splitting it with a hatchet, negating why I bought the Kindling Cracker to start with. Spend the extra $20 and don’t look back…
