It's funny that I stumbled on to this video while researching the Xmax because yesterday I saw a Super Cub in the flesh for the first time. All I could think was seeing someone ride it was the coolest thing ever. It's a really good looking bike imho.

I have a friend I graduated with in 65 that lives out on Lake Texoma. He has a Yamaha Star 650 V-twin, a 400 Ninja and a new 125 super cub. I wouldn't mind having a Trail 125, but the Grom is less expensive and has a 5 speed. Scoot on. ✌

Got a question: I am 72 years old, 5'6", have a motorcycle license but almost no practice - have always enjoyed bicycles. My wife and I have a summer place, in/near the country of your (and my late parents') origin. We want to buy a Vespa 125cc or 300cc to ride together around town and especially over a hill to run errands. I like the idea of the 300cc for carrying two riders, but wonder about handling the heavier of the two scooters. Any comments? Mnogo hvala!

Scooters are generally very easy to ride. Of course, the heavier and larger they are the more intimidating they’ll be especially to new riders. A 125cc Vespa is around 70-80 pounds lighter compared to a 300 so it’ll feel nimbler and lighter between your legs. It’s also smaller in size so it won’t feel intimidating. 125cc is enough for in city use, I ride my 125 Yamaha Zuma and it’s plenty powerful and quick enough, it can also maintain its speed on steepish hills. Vespa also offers a 150cc version of their primavera and sprint models, it’s probably worth it upgrading to it if you’re not a fan of the bulkier 300. Although the 125/150cc are nimbler, the 300’s increase in power more than makes up for it. The GTS 300 is a very capable machine and it’s a pretty much do it all scooter however if you never plan on getting outside of the town, it’s probably an overkill. To simply answer your question, if you don’t plan on taking longer trips, (50 miles or more) and just need something small, nimble, easy to ride, but can still do the speed limit, can carry two, go with the 125 or better yet a 150. If you think you may find yourself exploring the country, riding town to town, taking longer trips, the 300 is probably a better choice as it’ll be a lot more comfortable and you never feel like you’re lacking power.

Your comments much appreciated. My Bosnian father rode a motorcycle as a Partisan soldier in Yugoslavia in WWII. Clearly, my objectives are not as rigorous - certainly no highway driving, not that highways really existed then outside of Germany. So, I will go with the 125cc. I would go for the 150cc but, as far as I can tell, they are not sold in Croatia (Dubrovnik) where my mother was born. Thanks, again!@@nemanjatosovic

@@user-bl6fb4bx6q both Bosnia and Croatia are scooter heavens. Very scenic views anywhere you go. You’ll be ok with a 125 as outside of highways, speed limit is generally not above 80kmh which is about 50 mph and the Vespa can cruise the speed limit no problem.

I'm about to get a 2013 Kymco downtown 300i for $2,000 less than 5,000 miles on it no abs do you think that's a good buy for my first bike

I had the downtown for a year or so. It was a good bike, reliable, fast, I just didn’t like the seating position. It was big to cramped for me and I didn’t Ike the design of the seat, everything else was great.
