301 redirects for beginners - SEO tutorial

301 redirects are useful if you need to permanently route traffic from an old URL to a new URL and ensure no one hits the dreaded 404.
There are several use cases:
- Reorganizing your URL structure
- Replacing or redesigning a site using different URLs
- Moving to a completely new domain
- Redirecting traffic to mistyped URLs (e.g., dribble.com → dribbble.com)
There are other types of redirects, such as the 302 redirect for temporary redirects, but the 301 redirect is best used if you need to permanently route incoming traffic to a new URL.

Hi, nice video, well explained - Thanks. Question: I have a www and a non-www duplication error in GSC. I am considering doing a 301 redirect. My sitemap points all pages to a www version - My backlinks seem to be a mixture of www and non www links. - I have interlinked throughout my site mainly doing non-www - If i do a 301 redirect, to take all version to a www version. will it >take all the ranking link juice and apply it to the www version? > Fix my duplicated issues . Love to hear your advice as I'm getting a little lost in this SEO issue. Thanks

How long does it take for the 301 redirect to take action? I am working on a client to rebrand his website and his old site is already on the top of the list for google search. So I did a 301 redirect and I waited an hour to see if it took action/worked but His old website still pops up. Am I doing something wrong or does it take longer than a Day ( its only one page )

I changed permalink structure from default: ?p=123 to Post name: sample-post/ Site is pretty new but was indexed before this change. What do I need to do, to completely index the site with brand new permalink structure? (The entire website lost it's visibility(seo ranking), though the site does exist on google and are active.)
