Do you have to dissemble the entire printer to replace the encoder strip? I think you call it the timing strip at around 7:20 of the video. I see that the right sight panel seems to be pretty easy to remove to access one end of the strip. But the left side appears to be behind the formatter board. Do you have a video that might show replacing the encoder strip?
@303electronics Жыл бұрын
Hi. You do not need to disassemble the whole printer. Just enough to get access to one side to attach the strip

My 8710 gives a printhead not recognized error even with a new printhead. I suspect maybe the flex ribbon cable that travels with the printhead might be cracked. Do you have any other ideas?
@303electronics Жыл бұрын
It can be a faulty printhead if your previous printhead didn't do that. Try cleaning the contacts. Please also keep in mind that 8600 series printer printheads are not compatible with 8700 printers, like some sellers claim.

It gives the same error with both the old and the new printhead. I did clean the contacts in the printhead carriage.@@303electronics

...Nice! I wish you'd shown how to remove the front door ( I need to remove that swiveling panel to make it easier to clean the front rubber rollers, but I am afraid of pulling on it the wrong way ). Note: The front rubber rollers, in my printer, are causing the paper to occasionally go back in a tad crooked, when printing 2-sided - especially when printing full-color images, which causes the rollers to get bloated with ink and slip a bit while feeding the duplexer ( it's not the duplexer ).
@namolokaman23934 жыл бұрын
I figured out how to remove the front door. So glad it's out of the way. I might even leave it like that, and trick the sensor into believing it's closed ( will be easier to see what is going on with my CISS, and wipe ink messes ). Front door panel removal: Step 1: Looking at the front of the printer, remove the dark gray bottom-left quarter panel ( the one with the power button in the middle of it ). Use pry tools; it's held by 7 plastic tabs! Step 2: With the left hinge now exposed, PULL the *left side* of the door panel toward you ( toward the OUTSIDE of the printer ). Step 3: For the right hinge, PUSH the *right side* of the front door panel away from you ( toward the INSIDE of the printer ). Note: it isn't possible to remove the front door without first removing the bottom-left quarter panel, as indicated.

My printer HP 8710 constantly gives out an error Adf paper jam error. Tried cleaning rollers checked paper path for pieces of paper nothing found. Please advice
@303electronics Жыл бұрын
There is a small lever that sends a message to the printer that there is a paper in ADF. Open the ADF cover and make sure it is not stuck inside. That may trigger the jam message.

Is there any way to get to the inside of the glass on the scanner without taking the whole apart? I have debris under the glass and I want to clean it out.

You will need to lift the glass to get inside. The only way.

Someone just gave me an 8710 with a broken encoder strip and I dont have a scanner or copier at the moment. I bought a replacement for $10. Is it easy to just 'hang' it on the two 'receptacles' once the two side covers have been taken off? Will I then learn how expensive it is to keep myself in ink with this unit OR is it useful that this unit is quite cheap to operate once I have bought a set of spare tanks and the 4 bottle refill kit? (I don't plan to use it all that much as I have an HP1525NW laser printer for all my medium quality printing) Thank you again for your easy-to-follow video in which you make this repair look not at all daunting

Hello, sir! Do you know by any chance, what is the size of the glass used for this printer? Mine got shattered from shipping and I wanted to just replace the glass since the printer itself is still working fine

Hello. I do not know the size. I'm sorry this happened to your printer. You may need to look on the inside of the printer and cut a glass manually.

Have any fixes for the ADF not picking up inserted documents inserted into tray? Document sensor works and detects documents. Mechanical rollers don't run when scan is pressed and a blank page is produced due to document not picked up and placed on scanner glass. Any ides as to why ADF rollers are not activated for pickup?
@303electronics4 жыл бұрын
Hi. There is a tiny lever which should tell the printer when documents are in the feeder, it may be stuck, broken, or missing. Check that first. Also, make sure the adf cover is closed fully. Please let me know if you were able to locate the lever....
@robinlewis90684 жыл бұрын
@@303electronics Thank you for such a fast response. Yes the little lever is in place and functioning properly, as i see it on the display when documents are placed into ADF tray. The "NO DOCUMENT" notice clears from screen. The cover also is closed securely. I even slightly bent clips to ensure cover snaps back into place fully. Compressed air the intire ADF cover and rollers along with wiping down rollers and pickup roller. Lifted tray and blew out under also. I don't here the rollers rotating after pressing scan option.

Thanks for the video. Well done. My 8710 is making intermittent grinding noise like it is stripping some gears. It eventually works but is annoying. Can you offer any hints on what to look for or if I just have to replace this 18 month old printer.
@303electronics3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I'm sorry it took me a while to answer. If you remove the side of the printer on the screen side, I'm thinking there is some ink gunk build up that is preventing the mechanism to move freely. After you remove the side, shine some light into the area over which the cartridges sit. You can gently remove ink gunk if you see any.

i cant wait to junk my 8710, worst printer to use if you use 3rd party ink cartridges or ink. It will lock up the printer and won't let you do anything else. I then spend half a day trying to reset it and get it to work but once one cartridges runs low you are screwed and have to go through whatever new hoops HP has programmed for you to try and bypass their so call issues. Eventually you have to buy the original HP cartridge to reset the error codes. I thought HP was sued for forcing people to buy their house brand ink. I cant wait to take it apart, remove a few parts and junk it!! Never buying an HP ever again. Might have to do an Office Space video with it!
@303electronics Жыл бұрын
I know, it can get very frustrating with the way printers are programmed. The more recent models are even worse. I recently bought an HP printer and had to return because HP wouldn't let me use it unless I made an HP account. Forget it. I think older models are best anyway and ink is cheaper. I'm sticking to 2008-2015 models. Forget all the ink subscriptions garbage they push on consumers now. EcoTanks are really good. For now, anyway...... Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I bet many agree with you. I do, for sure. Have a great weekend!

@@303electronics Thank you, you too! The video did help as I took the glass off and a few other items that I can use. Hoping Epson works out. The build quality on the 8710 is solid, the Epson ET-3850 seems a little plastic-y from its feel and is a bit smaller than the 8710. If it wasnt for the expensive ink I had to buy for the 8710 it was pretty decent. There was issues scanning to pc and glitches using the HP pc app. Oh well. Ill see how the Epson works out.
