To all Numismatics lovers out there, remember the Gell-Mann amnesia effect: the phenomenon of a person trusting newspapers for topics which that person is not knowledgeable about, despite recognizing the newspaper as being extremely inaccurate on certain topics which that person is knowledgeable about. Every single thing we read on mainstream media is done with this level of care and consideration for the truth. Remember that when reading about other topics.

I am glad that more people are learning the more general lesson discussed in this video. Thanks for taking time to point this out.

People need to be aware of the kind of lies these governments are willing to tell to push their agendas. Its shameful, and can spark a reaction from unscrupulous politicians to restrict our rights to own ancient coins.

The sea has been very merciful with these. I've never seen 2,000 year old bronze come out of salt water looking so fine.

If they couldn’t recognize that those coins were fake, I wonder how many of these recovered “artifacts” are genuine…

so, to try to reconstruct what have happened, is it possible they were "aging" the wares in the salt water? (not sure if there's any advantage over doing it at home, but maybe? like they wanted some organic growth on it, like barnacles or something like that)

A Thai (?) archaeologist was found doing this in his back yard pool. Warping the historical record. At the very least the Egyptian cops stopped a fraud.
