Hi Chris - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I used pallet ends for years but I find it more convenient to use ropes instead of the planks and nails. The system is fast, versatile and has never failed. However, I use rope found when beach combing - not an easy option for you!!
@InTheWoodyard3 жыл бұрын
So how do you attach the rope and where?
@rodneysweetnam86533 жыл бұрын
Chris - Big Rodders again. I have a stock of two different lengths of rope. I first use 2 short pieces to tie the base of the vertical pallet to the horizontal one. Then I use 2 X 6ft lengths at 45 degrees just like your 2 planks to keep the end pallet vertical. I have an aversion to nails, having knelt on them in the past but if I had to use planks I would use screws and a drill driver for speed and ease of dismantling. Now get back to stacking, with or without Dave - and Irene!

Yep, you might want to make the braces just a bit beefier and longer for better holding power; and screws hold better than nails long term as well I think, though if you put 3 or 4 in each point it should hold. It's amazing how much those things will work apart over time.

Pieces run 16” to 18” long but some are. 19”/20”. I have not perfected cutting each piece exactly the same length. My stove can take a 24” stick. My sons stove takes 20” I think, so we have to be a little more exact with his wood stick length.

The stack that i going to use brick works great~ The Plus is? it stay dry! air can get to it faster this way I just got out of 5 days of rain. and loaded up on firewood every other day in the rain. and EVERY BIT OF IT WAS DRY, the bottom of the stack might get a little damp. from rain bouncing on it. but the panels keep it dry. I just lay a panel out long ways on the front side of the stack

Good method of stacking. Saves us tons of time too. Lol, I'm such a cheapskate -- seeing you toss "full length" pieces into the wheelbarrow to clear space for next pallets you lay down kills me. I know it's "kindling" thin pieces, but I always take the extra few seconds to stack that with the rest of the wood. Lol, again that's ridiculous. I know. I wish I had a method to keep as much of the kindling & bundle it up for clients. Right now it would cost so much more to keep track of it & sort it from the bark & dirt & any rotted soft bs wood that you definitely don't want mixed in with good seasoning wood. It's a work in process, ha.

In the long run the fiberglass panels will last for many of years. while plastic and traps only last a few month. Plus the condensation from the plastic and trap makes firewood wet. These panels there no condensation> So panels is the way to save in the long run

All take wood pieces seem cut to exactly the same length, so the three rows don’t impinge on one another.

What's the length of the cut wood?
@InTheWoodyard2 жыл бұрын
16"

@@InTheWoodyard just curious, I cut mine at 18. When stacked 3 across it comes out to four and a half feet across by 4 ft high by seven and a half feet long for the cord. At least that's what I tell myself.

Why not stack the logs? Let them age until you need them. Run the logs through a wood processor., then to a conveyor which puts the wood on a truck or trailer for delivery?
@InTheWoodyard2 жыл бұрын
That is the plan in the future, the catch is inventory ($$$$) sitting not getting turned over for a long time.

Wood does not dry in log form, he says he sells seasoned wood I believe so that wouldn't work. Must be split to dry, with the bark on it'll start to rot under the bark, mold also .
