Michael, I love the fact that you are always trying new things...watercolor, palette knife and now a figure! It's exciting and encouraging for me to see you do this. thanks

Another really nice painting. That pop of red was just what was needed. It instantly draws the eye to the center of interest. With the sand having a reddish tone keeps it from overpowering the eye. I love how the lines and value contrast moves the eye throughout the painting. Beautiful.

Really like the dark outline on that figure… gives it sort of Gauguin-vibe. Thanks for sharing this awesome work!

Looks great!! You found a way to capture a lot of the looseness and feel of your plein air process, and still remove distractions and variables like in the studio.

Great painting. For me, the upper line of white water and the upper green water boxes in the fisherman and I want to feel the freedom and fresh space of the ocean. Love all your work and look forward to it on Sunday! Carry on surfer dude!

Really great! I do love the loose, casual impressionistic feel, rather than some overworked thing. I oil paint too.

Great subject. Great painting. With simplex (yet complex) shapes of color for the fisherman, you really capture the man. The eye fills in the details and it's very convincing.

Is it strange that my favorite part is the sketching out? There is something I find magical in there…. I get kinda sad when it’s covered but the painting is always beautiful. ❤

as always I am fascinated again. One question please; have you covered your canvas with gesso or something else before painting?
@chamberlainpaintings5 күн бұрын
It’s a Blick premier canvas. Acrylic gesso has been applied by the manufacturer. I don’t do anything to the canvas before painting on it.

Why do you choose to paint outdoor? For your kind of subject, you could very well paint inside your studio.
