People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

People need to understand rescession, market down turns, and bankruptcy is healthy market equilibrium. Without that we have non stop price rises and inflation forever...

Offering longer mortgages is idiotic. It's simply saying, we don't want prices to correct and we are ok with the bloated prices. They shouldn't be encouraging any buyers with this kind of stupidity. Let the market correct. J Powell just came out today and said rates might stay higher for longer as inflation has remained stubborn. I've been saying this for 2 yrs this would be a very long process. And now 19% of mortgage holders are going to have to renew. Don't rush in and buy. They haven't even remotely increased supply and that's going to take a decade. This is going to be painful for a lot of people. As it should be. Nobody should have been chasing a home at these prices.

This is very good if more development happens outside of Vancouver and Toronto. More population growth outside of these cities will be a net benefit for the country. Aside from a layover at Pearson I’ve never been to Toronto so I can’t personally speak on its overall desirability. Vancouver is probably my favourite “big city” I’ve visited in Canada so I certainly understand its desirability. Were money no object I’d live in Vancouver over Edmonton. Given the fact that a “middle class” couple can’t realistically afford a house in Vancouver in one lifetime I would recommend Edmonton over Vancouver.

This may be a stupid question: what's wrong with investors buying up condos? Why do they receive so much hate? I know they take away the supply in the buying market, but aren't they increasing supply in the rental market? In a world where we're short on both, what's wrong with investing in a second condo?

I think most people understand that our government stopped prioritizing the building of purpose-built rentals, and condo investors were needed to fill that rental supply.
