I'd actually be interested to see what it takes to make it usable as an around town car. As in, upgrading the guts to actually maintain up to 55 MPH. New paint job and stock wheel size (just to compare to out of crate performance).

Put a high performance controller (Zilla controller or Damien Maguire's custom controller or build one from scratch) and put a manual 2- or 4-speed transmission with a smaller sprocket in the drive axle for higher top speed. Paint the car in one color like gloss black or matter black, the outside of the car doesn't look that displeasing as it kind of looks like a lada or hyundai trying to be a toyota corolla at the front end.

I would recommend to try and find the same bolt pattern disk or just change the tires. the motor looks like stuff that I've seen on ali, 1,5kw or smt and not too torquee, but still maybe play around with the inverter, only after go all in on everythingnew. PhSh looks good.

I currently live in Beijing China. I bought a similar car here and use it to get around on bad weather days. The motor in yours looks identical to the one that came stock in mine. It's a 1000W motor. I couldn't get up the ramp out of our parking garage with 2 people in it. There are many upgrades available in China for this. I upgraded to a 1500W motor ( the largest I could find that fits the differential), new controller, and lithium ion batteries. The car now tops out at 40MPH and has a range of over 25miles and much better acceleration. Our manufacturer must be better. We have no leaks and all functions including the heat and AC work. Trying to get big tires underneath it and decent suspension travel would be super hard and expensive. It's your golf cart though and either way everyone will love whatever you do. Apart from the actual cost of the car... It has potential. You had experience changing to Lithium batteries with the e-bike and this car would greatly profit from a Lithium powered ride. For wheels : I would honestly space out some 13 inch Tercel wheels or something reasonable first. Just with 165-185 width wheels your suspension would work correctly and it would already handle far better. For motor/controller... it seems potent to be able already to drive 5 people around at like 40km/h. Overvolt it to 90V (84V li-on tops out at 94V) and see how it delivers torque/power wise first. Most motors can easily handle a 15-40% increase in voltage without too much problems with longetivity. And remember that doubling voltage = 4x the power so a dc controller with 3-5000W sustained would make it a beast. Just beware of the motor temps by adding a fan or something. For suspension: It seems legit. Get some stiffer springs if you want or some longer shocks which would lift it and help with bigger wheels. If it is spaced out it will help since this car seems like it wants to fall over with its high center of gravity. Rewire the interior correctly and change the charge system for the lithium and you have a 40+mph car. Good enough for most city roads. Let's be honest. If you take this thing offroad bolts will snap and it will die after a mile. I've built many electric dirt bikes and the frame looks thin and not proper for anything rough. I'd content myself with making it a fast and quirky (Doug inspired) 5 seater lol. Or just rip those seats out and make it as light as possible.

Instead of chopping, especially with the clearance around the rear door. Go to five lug wheels and then 6inch spacer and put the wheel outside of the wells. More stability, space and it will give you that go kart dune buggy look

It definitely needs a stronger motor, the thing went like 12mph downhill, so the larger tires might strangle the current motor. I'd almost say gas convert... but it seems so well suited to electric, then again I'm reminded of the Grind Hard Plumbing Barbie car build. Heck, if you can get that kinda rev out of it it wouldn't mater if it were still pink. The PTC button is for the electric heater and only works with the fan turned on when there's one. Many very economic diesel cars in Europe have a PTC heater too as they're too efficient to put out enough heat for heating the cabine during winter

Instead of the transformer you can make an adapter that takes two seperate circuits and take the two hot wires to get 220 volts to the charger. and for the wheels the four bolt pattern on the car may allow atv wheels with meaty tires to bolt right on.

When I had a 'classic' mini, it came with 145 r10 tyres, the biggest upgrade tyres were 175/50/r13... Might work? Nankang still sell them in the uk Those 18s sticking out will cause significant issues with steering. Unless you relocate the hubs out to the centre of the wheels 😬 Have fun 😂

if any way possible check the specs on the motor and change out the controller along with the batteries. Honestly i really dont see how 2 what looks like sealed lead acid batteries could add up to 60+ volts. You will need to know the pole pair number in the motor, along with the max rpm and the phase angle it needs to get max performance from it. That small of a car 200 amp controller should do just fine but something ive picked up on is about 1000 watts per 100 lbs should do the trick at least from a motorcycle stand point of view so why not a small car as well. Ive completed the drive train on my E-Vader (grom clone electric) its now 5000 watts and a 150 amp controller can do 60mph ive just gotta get the battery range built also need to post an another update video. Upgrading this thing has been one rough event nothing seamed to work together well until i got rid of the old hubmotor.

The 4 lug situation is not that bad. Honda and some other manufacturers make 4 lug wheels up to 15 inch for sure, maybe even 16 inch. This way save the money for a 4 lug to 5 lug adadpters. Also, if you change the rear axle, you can get one with 5 lug axles already. Same thing with tbe front suspension, if you change it you can upgrade to 5 lug hubs.
