In this lesson, I am showing you some of the best ADD11 chord shapes that you can use all over the fretboard in close and open string positions.
I'm going to start by explaining what is an ADD11 chord, why they are different than sus4 chords, the challenge of building voicings that sound great and which intervals we should target to get chords with sweet dissonance.
Then, I'm going to show you all 31 shapes, either Major ADD11 chords or minor ADD11 chords.

Hey, new here, what is the difference between regular 11th chords and add11 chords? Is there any?

Regular 11th chords have all the extensions 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 9 - 11. Or at least they have the 3rd, 7th and 11th (it's not always possible to play all notes on a guitar, we have to modify voicings or drop notes to make the chords playable and the shapes comfortable). So the least it can be is 1 - 3 - 7 - 11. Add11 chords do not have the 7th in it. The 11 is added on top of a regular triad. So that gives us 1 - 3 - 5 - 11 for example. Hope that clears it up!
