Finally time for fun traveling in 1BC again! Jaime and I fly from Chicago Aurora Airport, Illinois down to Smith Mountain Lake Airport, Virginia for some fun at a Bed & Breakfast on the Lake. On this trip there's Hot Tubs, Boating, Wakeboarding, Tubing and we even meet a couple fighter pilots (one of which is a freaking Astronaut)! Jaime was channeling her inner musician on this flight...

I miss it also did a little in the late 80's but kids and buying a home in NJ killed that, but I did get flying time with a Church member in a Archer. But now we are in Florida right across from BKV so I get too enjoy the traffic Military, CG and civilian and now that I found these video's,I enjoy it after pushing cargo at TPA to watch some of the trips. My wife got a kick out of the Friends quote, that's all I hear from the kids and her in conversations I am guilty of it as well.

New to your channel. Really super envious. I know how expensive it is just to RENT an old 172. How do you make this financially possible? Two young people PLUS kids, TWO engines, a race car hangar. Bed and breakfasts... just taking this much time away from work is astounding....how are you able to do this??? Some people are happy just sitting on their laurels watching other folks having a great life. I want to know how you did it, so I can do it myself.

I think, usually, they know what they're expecting as their clearance, so they do know it beforehand. But yeah, I agree, if that was the first time I had heard it, no way I could read it back as they said it. They do have to read it back correct before they're allowed to fly it.

That's just where I like them...in the pretty good range. :) For normal long runways I leave them at cruise of 2350 or so. On shorter runways I usually pick them up towards 2450 (top of the green arc). I only shove them full forward if I need to for a go-around. All the time I did in the right seat of my former company's 58 Baron, we had a little airport (that no longer exists) that was 3000-3500, in the middle of a farmer's field, and it always felt a little tight to me. My pilot/co-worker used to fly the C-130, so he was a lot more confident than I was on those short fields. (EDIT...I just checked, it was more like 2900 feet, Buckhannon WV, but not the current airport there)

Yep, she did, but then she is an air trafic controller and so this is her world... just another day at the office! On one of their videos, Kevin is flying alone and Jamie is his controller in the tower, really nice and fun!

Yeah, as Gilles mentioned, both Kevin and Jamie are air traffic controllers for their day jobs. Spouting out long instructions and listening for the readback is probably second nature to them. Plus it was only one(?) waypoint, and Kevin left the freq and squawk on the screens for her.
