I surely appreciate the return phone call from Mr. Darnell the other day. He helped me in a decision of which rope will help a friend of mine with his heavy stock and rough terrain.

Havent roped in years...but I became obsessed with this shot back then. I couldn't even tell you how many hours on the dummy I spent with this one...lets just say it took awhile. It was fun when I finally got it down and every now and then it'd work in the pen or doctoring. A boss of mine threw one at a calf he was chasing down and was the prettiest thing I have ever seen at fast speed. This is a great video sir and I wish I had this back when I did this stuff. Keep them coming so I not only can admire your roping skills but also to think of the old days when I got to do this stuff for "work".
@310RanchLife4 жыл бұрын
operationNOBO so glad it could bring back good memories! And I totally understand the obsession lol you kinda have to be that way to get really good at this stuff for sure! Thanks for watching!

I learned how to throw this shot recently. I tried to go straight to setting a trap but got frustrated and so i started by roping a barrrel first then my calf dummy and now starting to throw the trap, that was less intimidating for any beginners start with a barrel and work your way up. but this is one of the best instructional videos ive seen yet. Good job 3:10

Dalton ! Mr. Darnell,,, where were you in 1949 during my 11 year old age ,trying to teach (laughingly) this DEL VIENTO to calf ropers and farm ropers in Pennsylvania. Pasture ropers were at a premium of course, but we had a few good Pennsylvania Dutch Stockmen.. We ran a Rodeo outfit RCA , and Country Music Park ''Sleepy Hollow Ranch''. Buckaroo , Cowboy and Rodeo Cowboy and Trick Ropers , Night club and stage ropers. Also some Hollywood and Mexican contract acts that included an amazing array, Mixed Vaquero world and Marine world. Your use of Video aids primo. Respex, kenxqed whimperer

Good vidio. I am working on the Del Viento now. Have been using vidios as I am a dime store cowboy. My ranch is the parking lot of the condo complex in which l live. My cow is wood; however I do have a real horse. Point is I was asking myself the questions you have answered. It is hard to do this stuff without a in the flesh teacher, but this is next best. Thank you!

buckaroo man oh man thanks for watching the videos! We do figure 8 calves from time to time but we for sure don’t do it on command. It just happens when the angle of your loop and your delivery is right. But we will talk about ways we can show that and see what we can do!

It originated in central México like all roping techniques and it means from the wind.
