The very first House of Blues opened its doors in a converted historical house in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992 and is home to live music, original folk art, and delta-inspired cuisine. Nick made a really good point. He said it’s easy to make songs about your problems but it’s more a struggle to make music that’s positive. He talked about the influence it can have on teenagers which was a huge portion of their fan base. I totally respect them for that.

Same year here, 93. Saw them at Liberty Lunch in Austin Texas, a tiny venue. I was 16 and have been a fan ever since.

this interview was actually done in Dec of 1999. i have a bootleg 311 cd called "Vegs Style" that is a double disc live cd of their last concert of "99(12-19-99) and the last track is this interview. cool to see a vid of it after all these years of listening to the audio

I'd say transistor is my fav 311 album but soundsystem is the best produced album hands down. Hugh did a great job.

How is it that they have such a "relaxed" musical vibe and yet are from Nebraska, their music sounds like it is straight from the California Coast, Like Santa Cruz.

They moved to California early in their careers. Before they were signed to a major label. Influenced by reggae and dancehall and then throw in the Cali vibe. I think a great combination! ✌️

Wow, this IS a great interview as it's a reminder to why I love this band so much and for so long. Can't help lol @ some of SA's facial expressions. Nick is very articulate and I didn't know about the no-weed on tour thing back then but I totally appreciate the 'natural high' bit. And yeah I know it's completely irrelevant but damn SA looks fine! (fans self)

Funny how the comments are “They’re so stoned.” And in the interview they talk about how they’ve been sober the whole tour without alcohol and marijuana. I guess they’re just grounded people no matter what.
