I always wondered why game generations stopped at 64 bit. The NES was 8 bit, then the SNES was 16 bit, the PS1 was 32 bit, the PS2 was 64 bit, but I didn't know why the PS3 stayed at 64 instead of going up to 128 bit.

When you calculate the maximum RAM you should divide by 1024 not 1000 because of how computers manage bytes. So on 32-bit you'd have an exact maximum of 4GB and on a 64-bit system Exactly 16 EB

Great video. What about graphic bits of gaming consoles? I mean for example PS1 is 32-bit, while PS2 and Dreamcast are 128-bit and so on…

I looked it up and apparently it wasn’t actually 128 bits and the 128 bit thing was a vector unit [I have no idea what that is 💀] and the actual cpu was 32 bits

The bus pathways exceeding 64 is limited to the gpu to memory interface within the VGA card but external connection between mainboard and vga operates at the presigned external level.

I have a nvidia geforce gtx 950 128 bit, but my pc only says I have 64 bit, I have 16gb RAM, sorry I dont know much about these kinds of things

Your pc will state what OS you have installed. You have windows 10 64 bit. Which can only be installed with a 64 bit processor, your CPU.

The 128 bit you're reading is the bus of the memory on your graphics card. Not the cpu. It probably reads as "2GB 128bit GDDR5" or something similar.

hey, there is 128 bits tho~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLOPS and yes dual core means 64 bits core x2(OR in case 32 bits x 4) and all arranged to series, so that's why all makes sense why 2 cores together are not conflicted. But maybe there's drawbacks also, if one of core have hardware issue means you must buy another chips, a new proper one😢
