So I've put this on for at least the 20th time. The good news is I won't hear it through to the end. Again! That signifies a solid sleep. I will of course skip forward a little every subsequent night. Your narrations have a beneficial effect on many people. Isn't that great? Cheers Greg! Your readings are singular. 😀

Same trope as was used by Conan Doyle in the 'hide the valuable inside a living goose' story. But superior to it, in using a wider canvas, encompassing Italian history and sociology. Beautifully read, as always. Text is a bit down on 'sallow' Italians resident in London during the late 1800s,(they tend to bite) but the author was a man of his times and must be read as such.

One of my personal favorites, Greg. After listening to this, I had to immediately go watch the Jeremy Brett adaptation of the same story. The ending where he's so affected by LeStrade's admiration really lands with Brett's performance and is one of my favorite moments in his entire run as Holmes. Cheers, as usual, sir! o/

So Holmes gets to keep the Borgia Pearl and the Blue Carbuncle?
@helenamirian9082 жыл бұрын
He gave the blue carbuncle back! He said "I will drop a line to the Countess to let her know we have it" after he said he would put it in his museum. The dramatized TV version made it look like he kept it.

The man who owns the bust wasn’t a rich man? Holmes knows it contains a priceless black Pearl so get this man to sign over all right of the bust to Holmes?? So if anyone offers you 7 x what you paid for an apparently worthless item beware!! I think he should have at least split the money with the owner. Very dodgy Mr Holmes an already wealthy man!!!!😮
