Thanks for playing Rick Roberts. I lived in the same building with Rick, just off-campus from UCLA. He was an unknown, looking to make it. I was a struggling college student, and quietly pessimistic about his chances, despite Rick's obvious talent. That's just where I was at. One day, I asked, "Where's Rick? I haven't seen him in a couple of weeks!" I was told, "Rick is in Europe, with the Flying Burrito Brothers." It was a valuable lesson.

Thanks, Leland; I was a huge fan of Rick Roberts back in the day, first due to the Flying Burrito Brothers album, then as a solo artist. Davy McVie is still part of my repertoire. I was pleased for him that he finally got some mass market credit with Firefall; such a pure voice and a very good songwriter. I appreciate the more obscure stuff like this!

Thank You Thank You Thank You, Brother! Such a beautiful piece of playing on Jenny's Blues! (I promise I won't bug you anymore - for this song at least!) ;-) I think this album was between Rick's album with The Burritos and his forming Firefall! Here are all the folks that played on Windmills: Rick Roberts - guitar, lead vocals, choir Bernie Leadon - banjo, guitar, harmony vocals, choir Don Henley - drums, harmony vocals, choir Al Perkins - steel guitar, guitar Chris Hillman - bass Randy Meisner - bass, choir Byron Berline - fiddle Dallas Taylor - drums Joe Lala - percussion David Crosby - harmony vocals Jackson Browne - harmony vocals Mother Hen - piano, harmony vocals Mike Utley - organ Marc Benno - guitar Leland Sklar - bass I think Mother Hen was the co-lead singer on "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down" I loved learning you played the Peace/Love bass on this and Spectrum and that the conversation with Henley about The Eagles name was part of these sessions. The history that comes out of things like playing this cut is were the gold lies! Your playing on Jenny reminded my of you backing Judith at that KSBW morning show (April 2017) Thanks again, Much love! - Rik

Ah, 1972 - the year I was squeezed out of the womb and into the golden age of music production. ;) There's something about the music of that decade which is mystically beautiful, in craft and recording production. Today's "pop" top-40 music all sounds the same - brittle and "too pristine". It's like comparing HD home video quality to the silky gauze of cinema. I prefer the silky, older styles of analogue production, which have a far more intimate aesthetic to their sound when compared to the "factory crunched" tunes of today, which all tend to sound the same. (I know I'm sounding like an old fart, but fuck it. It's what I feel).
@michaelgilmore92884 жыл бұрын
Hi Leland. I've been playing with cars for a number of decades and have learned that, for the most part, "trickle" chargers ruin batteries. There are several good websites that explain why. It is best to have a battery maintainer. My current fave is the Noco Genius 10. It works on all types of batteries, it has decent "horsepower" so it can charge a battery quickly, it can "repair" a battery that is starting to go bad, it can supply 12 volt power directly for small loads and it can handle 6 volt batteries, also. Check out their website. You can get a small wiring harnesses that bolts right to the battery terminals that let you easily plug and unplug the Genius 10. Oh, and I'm with the others who don't care for a clean-shaven look for you--especially with that beard of yours hanging from underneath your chin.
