How do you find a piece that you are looking for?
@soylentgreenb7 жыл бұрын
Sort things hierarchically. If both the sun set and the lion are kind of orange and nothing else is, you have three piles, lion, sun set and either. The lion pile you can sort into head, tail, body and either. The lion head pile you can sort into mane, eyes, mouth, nose and either and so forth. Instead of solving a 33600 piece puzzle, you're solving a bunch of 1000 piece puzzles (e.g. the lion), instead of solving 1000 piece puzzles you're solving lots of 150 piece puzzles (e.g. the head of the lion) and so on. This turns it into an ~O(nlogn) complexity rather than a O(n^2) complexity. A 33600 piece puzzle that's just a mess, like a jackson pollock painting, would be a nightmare. If there's no pattern the only thing you can sort pieces by is edge piece or interior piece. You can build the edge all around quite easily; because that's a ~700 piece puzzle that just goes along a line and you can sort pieces by if they have an "innie" or an "outie" connection, so really, each piece can only connect to ~350 pieces and you could further sort those depending on whether the connection is centered, above center or below center with respect to the middle of the sides. When it comes to building the interior you're stuck in pure trial and error hell.

That Was Pure Dedication And Amazing Patience Right There! Great Job. I Doubt Anyone Can Ever Say They Finished a Puzzle With THAT Many Pieces! The Most I Did Was 499 (My Toddler Ate The Last Piece) 🤪

I wouldn't be able to find two matching pieces if I tried my whole life.

He did it in the unusual way. The pieces come separated for a reason lol and for example, when I do big puzzles I separate pieces by color/place they go, so when I start putting them together I already have like 95% of the pieces of that section. This way it goes so much faster, it's like doing a lot of 500 pieces puzzles! It definitely takes longer during the sorting, but it's compensated when you actually do the puzzle. It can cut like 30% of the final time!!

+travis butler It now only costs $382.99, with free shipping lol, but that is still hundreds for a puzzle

+TurtleIsSlow2469 Hard to judge price of entertainment. If he worked on it even 3 days a week for 5 hours over 9 months that's almost 600 hours of entertainment. More than 1 hour per dollar is pretty good. Video games can offer much more, movie theater movies much less.

+Big Booty Smasher That's what I was thinking too. You would have to glue it all onto cardboard and then have 18 feet of wall space for it to go on.

Puzzles are weird. Someone prints a big picture, then cuts it into pieces, and then people pay for those pieces just to spend 400h putting them back together.
