Actually as a competitive swimmer for 6 years that isn’t true. It’s used so your hair is out of the way and so the hair isn’t dragged alongside with you as it’ll cause too much friction and that effects the speed of you. It also helps for swimmers as they go swimming regularly on a daily basis because it’s making less chlorine get into your scalp and roots.
