This was inspiring, we need badger proof mineral feeders in the UK. This video gave me an idea for a badger proof feeder using a tyre suspended from a tree, thanks could save me 200 quid.

ingenuity at it's best - really like the comment- you want to buy something - put it back on the shelf, take your money out of your pocket- look at it fold it and put it back in your pocket!

+praack Thank you, I appreciate the support & taking the time to leave a comment. I hoped the mineral & Salt feeders would help folks across the World. Often times the answer to our problems are solutions right under our nose is. I find this to be very much the keys for myself. But it is hard to get out of the concept of buying our solutions. Or so this is the case for me. Luke

I think I am going to use our rubber feed bowl, make a simple frame for it, then put a single bolt through the top of the frame and keep an old piece of stall mat on top. May need skids on the bottom of our livestock flip it. Thank you and God bless! -Nick

Do you use the cafeteria style? And if so where do you get the individual minerals? I've searched high and low and can't find anywhere that sells them individually lol
@bountywoodsfarm85944 жыл бұрын
Bio-Ag Consultants and Distributors in Ontario, Canada has some individual minerals; Free Choice Enterprises in Lancaster WI specializes in that; and Fertrell also has some.

Dont use or make the feeders were cattle can get there heads or horns stuck! I had a bad experiance with that!
@hdzuel6 жыл бұрын
Good video except for watching you mix that good Redmond salt with mineral. Keep those separate. If cows need the salt they’ll over eat on mineral and if need they mineral well they probably won’t because the salt will prevent them from getting what they want. Always free choice salt separate from mineral. And no blocks too damn hard for cows to get enough.
@BacktotheBasics1016 жыл бұрын
You were exactly right, I was actually mixing the salt with Redmonds Clay. In that pasture it’s all the mineral I feed. I did it so they get a taste for the Clay. Then eventually I separate the two. I think you’re the first person to actually know what Redmonds salt is. Or at least the very first person to actually see something in the comments. It’s great stuff, I’ve sat out regular salt and Redmond sought side-by-side and the colors will eat Redmond sold out before they even touch the other stuff. Thanks for watching, really appreciate your comments. If you have not yet subscribed please do so. Please keep in touch. Happy ranching. Luke

Back to the Basics 101 Iam a dealer for it in Nebraska through agri best feeds out of Montana. What is your salt to clay mix ratio. We have tried it on our place and just ended up with big hard tub they would not lick
@BacktotheBasics1016 жыл бұрын
Heath Zuellner 50-50, it makes them go to it and require a taste for it.
