The show Sinatra was talking about to Rickles was CPO Sharkey.

It's funny that you say "All Don must have done was write" That's the brilliance of Don Rickles, he has never written down a joke.. Through all those years, he always did it off the dome.

Had the pleasure of seeing him, exactly one year before his death. Sitting in a comfy chair on stage and killing it still. ❤❤😂

Don Rickles' appearances with Johnny Carson are a "must watch". Rickles said that he didn't write down anything. It was strictly reactionary comedy.

Living in LA you come across celebrities especially at trendy restaurants. I was at Spago about a year before Don Rickles died. He was there to have dinner with Bob Newhart and his wife. They were great friends, which is funny because Bob Newhart is so low key funny and never offensive. The best part of running into him, which I literally did since we were in the rather cramped entryway by the hostess for a couple minutes. He spent the time flirting in that sort of old man way that isn’t really threatening with the young pretty hostess, and she laughed and smiled and he turned to me and poked me in the arm and said “it’s OK. I’m a veteran.” With that same heheh voice. And he is a veteran. U cherish that he joked with me.

I don't have a favorite Eastwood movie. But, when he was making Mystic River, I stood next to him, the whole time we were waiting for my valet to bring his car back. Clint doesn't have to act.. Thats just Clint. I was 22, and he was terrifying. Until I got him to laugh. Awesome dude.

I'm 70 and have loved Clint Eastwood since his Rawhide days; an awestruck little girl who didn't know what a crush was, but I had one on him and still do! It would be easier to make a list of films that weren't my favorite. I mean really, at 94 yrs of age, he just wrapped up his film called Juror No. 2. earlier this year, and is working with Warner Bros. for yet another film. He's been in over 60 films (many of which he directed), including Dirty Harry, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Gran Torino. How to pick a favorite? The only one I can think of that I didn't care for was Play Misty for Me. Not to leave out our guest of honor in today's video, Don Rickles, aka "The Merchant of Venom" and "Mr. Warmth" was off the chain, thanks for the reaction.

People used to know the differevce between light hearted comedy and they had respect. Nowadays, everyone thinks they're so important that if their feelings get hurt everyone needs to hear about it

If we could all love Don's comedy, society could heal it's wounds, and have something closer to world peace. He's proof of Jesse Lee Peterson's statement there is no such thing as racism. Our battle is not of the flesh but good vs evil. He was a perfect example of comedy actually being a form of tragedy.

Thanks for this Polo. I'm 60 and it was fun going down memory lane. Times were better when everyone wasn't all offended all the time. I don't think Rickles was the funniest guy in the world but there was no malice in his act. His entire career was about telling anyone and everyone that they shouldn't take themselves so seriously. And I think that's also the reason he was able to survive past the onslaught of political correctness. He didn't take himself so seriously that he would let the anyone push him out of showbiz. Unfortunately the PC police won the culture; but they didn't get Rickles!

These days we would rather try to cancel a person or hurt them and their families careers all in the name of pride when you could just very easily not pay attention to something you don't like it's that simple we don't have to try and take everyone down that we don't agree with

Bro u sat there and barely smiled....he was crackin me up. Part of it is we've been desensitized because I'm 40 and all the comedy I grew up with was pretty dirty so when you see this cleaner comedy it's not as exciting but when you step back and look at it for what it was it's really good
