Now here's where it starts to get interesting...for the Minekaze, my normal thing to do is rebuild it and convert it into a KE! That is, start the rebuild and remove ALL the torpedoes, then change it to minesweeping and remove the minelaying. (You can do it since the KE limit is 2500 tons.) Oh, may have to change the guns as well. It should say this will change it to a KE, Continue? But you get a VERY fast KE (it used to allow it, though now I realize I haven't made this conversion on the newest version, yet, so wonder if it will say too fast?), and you wouldn't have had to make the new KE you designed. The downside is you can't make them Colonial on a refit, though, and original DDs can't be Colonial. ;-p BUT, you'd have 2500 FS tons vs 1875! (1500 x 1.25 = 1875) from the new KE. And I think should be cheaper and faster than building the new KEs. And then they can actually go to the end of the game, getting slower bit-by-bit yet still be very fast for a KE! Wow! Such a run of nice radar tech sharing! About the maintenance cost: it's higher outside your Home zone for the same class ship. Then as you noted, the Captain could be affecting it, BUT, also once it goes 'O' the maintenance cost goes up, and I think there is just an age based thing that kicks in after it's 20 years old as well.

Well, the Minekazes are gone, I recorded tomorrow's episode a little while ago lol. We have some pretty nice KEs in the pipeline, though! I did notice the higher costs for being outside of home!
