A shame people are so selfish that they loot and destroy abandon houses

I agree. This home sits on Bureau of Land Management property. It was a homestead. We were told that after Paul died the BLM bulldozed the property so that squatters would not move in. The home is hidden from all roads and is hard to find. We were surprised to find the home as intact as it was because Paul passed over 20 years ago. We looked for this home for years and could not find it. We only found it this time because we ran into a local who had been good friends with Paul and he told us where it was.

I love going to sites like this.♥️ This is WILD. WILD LIKE A TIGER 🐅 Paul Watkins was a big part of the Manson story. Regardless of his beliefs. Thanks for the upload. Keep up the great work.💛

Glad you enjoyed it - there is so much more than what the media showed. My husband really did a lot of research.

Some time after Paul died in 1990, his wife took the family to live in Pahrump. Someone else lived in there for probably another 10 years, then it was abandoned and scavanged.

Thank You for your comments. I have not heard that, but I do not doubt that was the case. We met a local from Tecopa who was a friend of Pauls who told us about a time capsule that Paul had put inside a monument he built in front of the house. The capsule was said to have contained items from 1969. When we were at the property the monument had been destroyed. It is now a pile of rubble... Sadly, we will never know what was inside. I wonder if Pauls wife removed the items before they left.

We were told the BLM knocked a portion of the house over so that nobody else would move in because it sits on BLM land.

@@StrangeRVTours Yeah, I don't doubt that, although I'm sure it was after the last occupant vacated. I am surprised the BLM has left that mess out there. My husband and I don't live in Tecopa but have property out there (winter quarters for retirement), so I've been to the site many times, The "house" originated as a little mining shack affiliated with the mine just a little to the west. It was always on BLM land, but on a mining claim. I believe the mining claimant quitclaimed the claim to Paul, who let it lapse, and the family was pretty much squatting. I wouldn't be surprised if the BLM started pressuring Martha on the issue, which is why she moved, but she "let" someone else live there and when that person moved out, the BLM made the place uninhabitable.

There were no big screen teevee then. This is sad desecration. Paul knew how to make a good, beautiful, and introspective life. That’s how he escaped before it was too late.

@@luanaconley6871 I believe his wife and daughter lived in the home after he passed. Yes, I have also heard that he lived a good life after leaving the family. We met a friend of Paul’s at the minor hot spring who said Paul had delivered his children and was a midwife in Tecopa.

We tried internet searches...nothing. Then we asked around Shoshone....nobody knew him. For years we tried to find the property. Finally, we were driving through the residential part of Tecopa and saw a lady in her yard and she had known Paul. She told us where his property was but said it was on private property. We drove over to the closest house near the property and met the man who owned the home next to Paul’s. He told us the road to Paul’s was blocked off but it was actually on BLM land and we could walk there. It was about a half mile walk and there it was all by itself. We could hardly believe it.

Yes, I have heard that. We looked for this home for several years. Finally one night we were at Miner's Hot Spring in Tecopa and I asked an old cagey guy that looked as though he could have been a hippy back in the day if he know who Paul Watkins was. He replied," Yes, He was my best friend." I think the guy went by the name of "Rooster.' Anyway he explained that Paul had delivered his children and that he had delivered Paul's children. They were the mid-wives of Tecopa. Anytime anyone in Tecopa started labor someone would go and find them. I have never heard anything bad about Paul Watkins, and Rooster said he was one of the kindest people he had ever known. Don't get me wrong the Manson family did some truly horrific things but it appears Paul was able to rid himself of the family when he realized what they had done. " Rooster was also the man who told me about the time capsule that Paul had placed in a stone monument at his home. The monument was destroyed, who knows where the contents are today...
