They each are they're own dog and each with it's own personality !!!! ! have them from age 17, 16,5 and 2 lol!! wouldn't take the world for none of my babies!! I didn't understand the allure of these funny looking little dogs until a young longhaired standard (a handsome redhead!) showed up on my doorstep 3 years ago. If his 'lost' family had called I would have been devastated--but they didn't! He's all mine and I'm all his! And now I wonder why anyone wouldn't want one of these charming, affectionate creatures. Even if his ears don't work when his nose is busy! Hound dog problems! He's barking in his sleep right next to me as I type this. Endearing little rascals!

Wendy Butler. I understand!! My son wanted one almost 5 years ago. I really wasn't into it!! I had never really cared much for dogs. Especially small dogs. Well, he now is my best buddy!! Their personality and affection are unbelievable!! Never a dull moment with a Doxie!! If you make the mistake of spoiling them............ oops!! 😂😂

Wendy Butler I fell in love with them many, many years ago when I was babysitting for a neighbor who had one. I finally adopted one 10 years ago. My little boo-boo Head was my pride and joy. You know how they don’t have that standard “dog” behavior. They are a force to be reckoned with. And that stubbornness ? That is something else. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Mine passed a little over a year ago. I was more than devastated. I’m hoping to get another one, when I know I can give it the love it will deserve.

about 4 years ago, a pit bull came into my yard and would not let me move, anytime i did, it would go after my legs, my wife came home and let out my full size dachshund, not knowing what was going on in the yard, my Oscar came out, seen the pit bull going after me, he ran at the pit bull and bit him in the neck, keeping the pitbull off of me till i ran to safety . if anyone tells you that these dogs are small and wimpy, they truly don't know the heart of a dachshund.

Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt badgers. The only ones that made it as pets back then were the ones that didn't have the killing instinct and they were given to their kids or something like that. Any kind of dog that size that has the guts to going after a badger is the most vicious dog there is. That being said though they were also the most precious loving animal I've ever owned. A huge dog one time went after the Dachshund I had when I was out with My fiance walking our dog in the park. I'm pretty sure our weiner dog could have handled its own but I wasn't taking that risk. I just had mental images of that big dog eating mine like a hot dog and not to mention my girlfriend was freaking out! I physically jumped in between the dogs and stupidly tried to stop that huge dog from getting mine! It was hard for my girlfriend to hold our dog back cuz she was trying to help me. I only outweigh the dog I was fighting by maybe 30 lb I think. It was huge. I literally ended having to put a bullet in it but I tried to get rid of it first I didn't want to shoot it. You pull out a gun it will stop most people but a dog has no clue! After I was done I'm laying there covered in blood gasping for air and she put our dog down and all that dog could do was come up and lick me and make sure I was okay. My little dog and My girl were crying. made me cry I couldn't stand to see either one of them upset I'm extremely protective! Either one of them left my side for days. Well after I got stitched up anyway. I take that back my little dog Stella a shot right on my chest so she could lick my cheek when she wanted to. I love that dog and that dog love me so much It would make most women jealous!! Lol. Both the girl and the dog were absolutely amazing and loving is they can get. Not only were they both worth The stitches But together they were easily worth dying for or killing for. That little dog would have done the same for me anytime.

I had a hot dog. He was a great dog. He was mostly black w a little brown. Lived for 14 yrs, had a good life. Highly intelligent. Hot dogs train the human family, not the other way around. 😆 They think they are big dogs. They bark and act like a big dog. 😆

Have 2 Doxies although the other one passed away last year November due to old age. She was twelve when she passed away. But I still have Mamou my 2nd Doxie. Like Yumi my old one, she is also loyal, an actress, demanding for caresses on their chest and always wants to be by your side. Like yumi, when I will leave her and come back after 2 or 3 hours she will cry relentlessly. No cons about this breed. They’re so lovely. They will protect you and love you unconditionally. Oh and they always talk to you whenever they want to eat, pee or play.

I have just seen your text about Maximus I am so sorry for your loss, my first was Maximus (maxi for short) he died in my arms in March 2014 and I still miss him so much then we got Peggy she was our princess but alas she had to be put to sleep 31st December 2016 due to complications with diabetes and cushions syndrome I miss her so much to now we have two daxi rascals Molly and Milo they are both 1 having more doesn't take away the pain of losing maxi and Peggy these are so loving just like the other two and just remind me of them in the things that they do love the all to bits and those other people own to xx

Watching a dachshund go into 'auger' mode is really something--if they can't claw through it, they tear at it with their teeth. They're built for digging and seeing him use his instincts to tear into a fresh mole hill is awesome! All those muscles in the neck and shoulders working--they put their entire little bodies into it! And he won't give up!! I have to remove him. I'm just grateful he hasn't caught a mole yet!

I have a pair of doxies. One black and tan and the other is fancy multi mix of different browns. The girl is liberty's lovely lady and the other is star spangled Banner. Libby and Banner for short. They have me trained very well. These are our second and third doxies. Ruffus our first one lived to be 26 years old.

All so adorable! My dachshund and granddaughters first meet was nerve racking because he's aggressive. They both got really quiet for too long...my granddaughter was giving him a toilet bath with her magic wand.🤣 He's been cool ever since, don't worry he got a tub bath later.

I had a daschund when harnesses for small dogs were not available in my country. You cannot imagine how uncomfortable it is when you need to have a doxy on a leash but you know you cannot pull it. Especially when your dog also knows that you will not and his ears are working selectively :)
