Awesome vid that day Chris! Thanks for sharing where you got the term “wood carnage” from! That’s a neat story, an nope, I’m not one of those people lol. This is why people should go back through your older vids! Pick up little bits of info like that! 🔥💯👍. See you soon! Andrew from NB :)

Love all your videos just got my first new to me old spliter im getting going again. Its homemade and overbuilt if there is such a thing but the reservoir seems huge for the hydro fluid. Maybe 5-10 gal. I was very excited when looking up intervals on changing to see this video! I probably watched it back then but now seeing it looks so much different from your current setup and less cats! Lol nonetheless thank you for all your new videos and old alike!

Good job the best exercise a man can do. I've been doing it for 40 plus years and going strong. Going on 74 and still going to the woods which to me is heaven and splitting every piece with a rough necker yellow handle mall and of course the fiskars which I purchased a year ago. Have you ever tried the tire method? It saves your back and it works great. I saw it on Tim's wood cutting videos. Stay safe and God Bless.

Hello Gary! I'm pretty sure that the word woods is an Indian word for heaven!! I agree with you on that and that it is great exercise. I never tried the tire method or the chain and bungee method but someday I would like to. Thanks for watching!

I love that banjo music. I could cut or split wood all day listening to it. Try putting some hydraulic cylinder stop collars on your cylinder bar to stop it before it retracts all the way. That way you don,t have to stop it manually every time it goes back. It will only go back enough to clear the end of the piece of wood you are splitting. It really speeds up splitting cycle time. Love your vids. I see you have really nice saws, I have 2 like them and I have 2 stihl saws, 1 80 cc echo, a 44 cc echo, and a couple of homelite 40 cc saws. They all run great and are all ready to go. I am waiting on the ground to freeze up so I can get to the woods, since it is so soft and muddy out there. I have 75 trees cut down and drug up to my woodlot to cut up for next year, but I don,t want to cut in the mud. Have a great day.

I like banjo music too! Ed, that splitter has been retired, I got a new Eastonmade Ultra a while back , it's 3xs as fast! It's on a bunch of my newer videos, check it out!

Most important question, how often should you do it, what interval?
@InTheWoodyard Жыл бұрын
It lasts a long time, like years...unless it is boiled or water gets in it that can ruin it. If water gets in it will look like milk.

Do you remember what filter the hydraulic took
@InTheWoodyard3 жыл бұрын
No, but it was not hard to find. Try a tractor supply store or any place that deals in hydraulic equipment.

Chris I know you worked the old 27 ton splitter to death. With the small hydraulic reservoir, how did you make it last so long as hard as you ran it ?? Always appreciate your input. Doug in Niagara Falls

Try pouring the hydraulic oil with the labelled side of the bottle facing the ground, guaranteed you'll spill less

Or poke a hole in the handle so it doesn't have to burp & splash. When I put fluids in my semi I poke a hole in the bottom and dump. But I have a bigger target. But the hole in the handle would do the same thing as long as you don't tip it too far before it drains. If you tip it to where the fluid fills the handle you've just made 2 outlets

Great video Thx but rotate your can so the spout is higher then it wont glug and miss the filler hole

Morning Chris, what pump did you use on your splitter,i need to change the fluid on mine. Nice work on your videos,really enjoy your channel.
@InTheWoodyard4 жыл бұрын
It is a fluid transfer pump that I bought at a automotive box store for about $25. I looked at it and there is not a name on it. Thanks for watching!
@deshrek93763 жыл бұрын
By the look of the filter wrench, I'd say Chris got into the Zone. If you have a Harbor Freight near you, they have a similar manual pump for 10 bucks. I broke the one I bought from AutoZone (stepped on it...don't ask) and since I don't use it all that much, I sprung for the cheaper one. Same quality, except I haven't stepped on this one yet.

If you turn the oil container and pour from the side it pours much better.

I enjoyed your camera angles. About how long would it take you to split a face cord with that splitter?
@InTheWoodyard4 жыл бұрын
About a week. That splitter is called the glacier because of how fast it moves. Ha! It actually takes 45min - an hour. I just got a new Eastonmade ULTRA and I can do about a FULL cord an hour! So it's about 3 times as fast. Thanks for watching!
@integralstanley4 жыл бұрын
@@InTheWoodyard Thanks. It takes me about an hour with my splitter. I am thinking of getting something faster.

In The Woodyard can’t wait to see the Easton made run. There are a few out there but people are not very efficient with them. Looks like they do the splitter a disservice lol. Goof job.

Should have punched a hole in the offside of where you are pouring for air relief! It would flow smooth instead of erratic

Yup, that would help , thanks!

The video stated hydraulic fluid change. Get to the point how to change the hydraulic fluid. Not ramble on how about whether this this that or not tell me all you would have had to say that I got out of your video is a suction pump play it simple that's all you had to say.
