This is a long hood. Look at where the rivets are on the curbside of the hood, In front of the diagonal cut-out for the air cleaner tube. The air assist cylinder on the drivers side and when they are looking at the rear of the truck the camera sweeps back towards the front, you can see the hood extension with the hood up. Definitely a long hood.

@MattytheDem We obviously you can rebuild a 3208, we just never did. It's just as cheap to get a used one as it is to rebuild one. I don't think a 53 series could quite run circles around it

@MattytheDem 3208s weren't crap. For what they were, they held their own. If it went out, just throw it away and get another one. We call them "Throw Away Cats" around here. The only reason they have such a bad reputation is because they were so underpowered, and people try to compare them to the bigger Cat motors.

Mr Kenworth boy needs to do some readin. A. Kenworths are just a paccar product. They're a decent truck but not the best. I've had plenty. Bad hinges, leaky cabs, etc etc. B. Western Stars are built much better than any KW, that's why they cost more. C KT is a Cummins line of engine not anything to do with Kenworth. D. Engine's don't care what brand of truck there in they have the same horsepower until you F*** with them!

3408's were cold blooded even when it was warm. LOL My first truck was a '78 Pete 352H model cabover. It wasn't so much the body style that determined if a 3408 could be put in it, it was the radiator size. Most cabover Pete's (model 352) of that era had a 1200 square inch radiator. You needed a 1500 sq. inch to keep that big V-8 from over heating.... 3.8 mpg to 4.2mpg was average fuel economy (with a 13 and 3.70 gears)... but when fuel was $0.34 per gallon, it wasn't that big of a deal.

@MattytheDem I'm a cummins guy, but i gotta agree, there are much better engines in the world than a KTA... They were big dogs back in the day, but also big dogs are the gas pump.
