I really like how you figured out how to mount those internal fans externally and also keep the protective grill! I'm gonna do the same for mine. I've got one KS0 Pro up to 320 Gh/s, but I'm not even pushing it. I use a variable power supply and lower the voltage from 19 to 16 to get cooler temps, but that increases the input current. Those barrel connectors are only good up to 10 Amps, so I keep them at 9 amps max. I think I'm going to mod the power connector so I don't have to worry about the power plug getting too hot. I'll remove the power connector and solder the power cable right to the circuit board. Love your content.
@GreaterGoodMining8 ай бұрын
Thank you I appreciate that! Yeah those barrel plugs get really hot. Originally I was going to push air in from the ethernet side to hit the powerstages and copper heat sinks first. But I decided to blow air in from the barrel plug side to cool that down as much as possible. It worked out good so far!

Why did you go with Farmers OC vs Tswift’s OC’s. Does Farmers OC not charge a fee? Or is it that you can get more hash rate ? I do love Farmers gui layout and the temps charts, much better that the ice river.
@GreaterGoodMining8 ай бұрын
PBfarmer has a 1% fee but 50% of the fee goes to the Kaspa Dev team and eventually 100% of the fee will go back to the Kaspa Dev fee. I want to be able to adjust my own overclocks, and I love the detail and amount of data in PB farmers Web GUI

The difference is equivalent to comparing a car with no controls and the throttle stuck to 100% open, vs one that actually has a gas pedal, dashboard, etc. The former may get you where you want to go, but it's an inefficient, uncomfortable ride, with questionable longevity.

@GreaterGoodMining i have a question. im looking for the files in the /var/update folder of a KS0.. (the OG). lets say someone deleted some files in there and the machine is not starting anymore.. thinking it might start to work again if i put them back. I can still reach the filesystem, but hard reset no worky anymore and no KS0 og in my neighbourhood i could get them from. And here is me hoping a random Kaspa yt-ber might be able to help with those. Im grasping at straws i know but iceriver isnt responding as i would have liked :p.

I havnt messed with any of the original files but I know lots of people in my Discord mess around like that. PBfarmer might be able to help. Join the Kaspa Discord and ask in the mining hardware section. Guarantee someone will be able to help you in there

My OG KS1 is a weird 1st batch custom one-off that so far won't even let me upload stock firmware from Iceriver. It's a factory freak. And my other KS1's I combined into a KS2. The best thing to do is attempt to overclock yourself because your KS1 will be different from anyone elses in how much it can be pushed. It depends on a lot of factors like ambient temps, have you repasted, if you have a cooling shroud and upgraded fans etc. etc. Try the firmware and tweak and learn is the best way to go!

What is the difference in dev fee for PB wnd Tswift
@GreaterGoodMining8 ай бұрын
PBfarmers is 1% but half of the fee goes to the Kaspa Dev team, and eventually all of it will go to the Kaspa Dev team. Tswifts is 0.5%

When you upload the firmware no overclocking is applied until you make the changes yourself. But you will be paying a 1% Dev fee to use it

I do not think this is a good idea. I have 12 OCed machines running for months, but the first one now started to stop hashing. Obviously it is getting slow-cooked... it still runs at stock now. But if you have experience with OCing, which I had done extensively with CPUs in the past, you will know that CPUs may age rather quickly. So you will be out of luck with your warranty if you cook that thing (actually you are already out of warranty once you start OCing), I would not push these so high. You might regret it in a few weeks.
@GreaterGoodMining8 ай бұрын
I appreciate your input and agree with you. When you overclock these, especially to this level, you are risking the machine getting toasted or at least causing more wear and tear etc. I am OK with pushing these hard for fun. I just like to see how much I can get out of them :]
@Baerchenization8 ай бұрын
@@GreaterGoodMining I would, but it already took ca 6 weeks for delivery and my retailer says if one breaks, I have to send it to the US myself, so I would not see it for a few months, in which case you may lose 20-30% or more of your annual yield - not so bad if you have 12 machines and one breaks, pretty bad if you only have one or two... also, I can see that maybe only 3 of my 12 machines could get that high, as most do not even reach 280. So people have to be OK to make the investment in the power and fans, shroud-printing, putting all the time in to it, but only have a 1 in 4 chance that it will actually work. So definitely not recommended for people with only 1 or few units.
