We are all thrilled over Justine finishing, she is a very competitive young women with a brilliant future ahead. Boris is a true gentleman, he always seems so relaxed and on top of his game. Unfortunate his equipment failure has put a damper on placement yet we all know he'll be back in full swing. Best to all as this epic race winds down and for a safe and happy New Year.

Looking at the Tracker I noticed that many boat’s routes coming back, heading north in the Atlantic, cross their former one to south made at the beginning of the race. It means that they pass twice on the exact place on earth (amazing). Dalin crossed his own route 4 times. Once south of the equator, three times north of it. Which also means that technically he turned around the world navigating in both emispheres in much, much less than 65 days! Does it makes sense to measure this statistic?

An Update from Samatha Davies was on her short updates, that she had a food poisening (from a cheese) on the 23. Jan. She recoverd but due to her wohle state she was in, decided to slow down on purpose for the following days, so she won´t engage in the heavy weather conditions ahead. That was what I understood, with my poor french knowlege.

Thanks Marc. The storm that group are heading for doesn't look good.

Sam Davies is just going slow to let a storm go by.

Boris sounds disappointed, he has had some bad luck this race for sure.

can they use the diesel engine to go faster towards the end ?
@Sail-WorldКүн бұрын
@@KuschallRacing no, the generator can only be used to create electricity or for the watermaker
@philippplarre9357Күн бұрын
@@Sail-World How do they know that the generator is not being used for propagation.? When are they allowed to use the engine?

but the have a drive engine to propeller and are able to move with engine....
@CS_247Күн бұрын
@KuschallRacing The propeller shaft/transmission has a seal on it so it cannot be used, altho in an emergency the seal can be broken, ie if a skipper volunteers to rescue another sailor in trouble.

In most winds, the diesel will be slower than the sails.
