It's scary to think there is a time and date for every professional athlete at which point he will never be any better. Speaking about pure athletic freakery there's a moment (somewhere around age 22-23) when the growth hormones slow down and the skin on the face suddenly loses that opaque fatty layer becoming translucent. Once that happens it's done. This isn't to say you're finished because you can offset the athletic losses (which happen slowly at first) with playing smarter. But as the falloff accelerates this gap becomes increasingly difficult to bridge. If you look after the body, eat a sensible diet and stay off the party scene - you can stretch this process out. But as every day passes you have to have to invest more and more of yourself for diminishing gains.

Yeah I think so. Surname, 200+ games and still at the club. Graham was also recovering from a serious leg injury at the start of 2019 too, which lines up with what Toby says
