Emmett can really act. That character is so all over the map. One minute he is all hot and sexy and then he is deranged and wild and then quietly evil and then like a little hurt boy and he is always believable. Just about the best acting I have ever seen on a Soap.

Brendan didn't believe her either until it began to impact him. The first time he claimed to believe her was only to get her to go out with him because he needed a beard. When she turned him down because she knew he was gay, he gaslit her into thinking she led him on and made his son believe the same thing, even allowing Declan to bully/antagonize Lynsey and never corrected him. I'm also fairly certain Brendan has made his famous empty threats at Lynsey a few times whenever she started poking into his business. At the end of the day, they Brendan and Cheryl both made mistakes with Lynsey but I don't think it's fair to say he was a better friend to her.

I know that Cheryl's mad at Bren but I don't see how she could possibly try to blame him for Lynsey's death when everyone knows who's really responsible. Even Walker not stepping in to save her when he saw her being strangled doesn't make Bren culpable cuz Walker isn't the one who killed her either. And he didn't let her die to spite Brendan, he did it so as not to blow his cover. Cheryl's clearly just angry and hurt and needs someone to blame. Brendan is always a convenient whipping boy.

Cheryl has no right to deny Brendan the right to grieve for Lynsey. He was the one that helped Lynsey with Silas when Cheryl thought she was crazy. Brendan was a better friend to Lynsey than Cheryl so she needs to just get over herself and let Brendan be to grieve because he lost Lynsey too not just her and she has no right to judge Brendan.

"Monster" is a Metaphor. Cheryl treated the woman she is bawling so much about like she was a piece of dog poo & made Lyndsey doubt her own sanity-but Brendan trusted her and knew her better. Pointing out the obvious is hardly "crucifying" her. Just shows either her ignorant cruelty, or her lack of knowledge about the true character of her "best friend" & they're fictional anyway- LOL

She knows nothing of the hard life he's had because everything he does it to protect her ungrateful ass. What he did with Mick was to protect Joel and get him out from underneath an abusers control. WALKER killed him in the trunk. What Brendan did to dispose of the body was to protect Joel once again. And I'm sure it killed him a little more inside since he hates himself worse than Cheryl can

You're right. I was being defensive. I'm in the gray area-an Emmet Scanlan fan who dislikes Brendan for the way he treats people. I don't actually hate him, and I feel compassion for him, especially now that we know more about his background. Right now I find him more sympathetic than usual because Lynsey was his friend, and Cheryl is treating him unfairly. I could be wrong, but I suspect most of the "BB haters" are in your imagination, and thus telling them to go to hell is a bit gratuitous.

I should have you proofread my comments before I post them. I think saying "Cheryl's funeral" instead of "Lynsey's" may have been a Freudian slip, because Cheryl is acting like it's *her* funeral in the sense that it's up to her to decide who can attend Lynsey's funeral, although she can't actually prevent Brendan from attending.

You know some of you sound demented talking about this PROGRAMME & do u ever watch the bloody show???? Brendan was there (Hollyoaks Later) & part of the scenario was when Mick (Joel's step-father) fell in an accident and Cheryl found BB cutting the body up to get rid of the evidence for Joel. BB found out later that Walker, an under-cover cop was a witness to Lindsey's murder & BB also feels responsible for that...Christ, keep up folks.....watch it, then comment - not before!!!!

Well, in most people's mouths, "go to hell" is usually a figure of speech, not serious damnation. My initial reaction came from not being a Brendan fan but still being glad to see him and glad to see him spruced up. I mistakenly thought you were denying the possibility of this particular mix of feelings. The writers seem to have set Brendan onto a path of healing, recovery, and redemption. I find this very interesting.

I am not a big BB fan but I don't like when he is falsely accused either. BB or any of his associates (as Cheryl called them) are not responsible for Lynsey's death. BB had nothing to do with it. Technically, Cheryl can't stop BB for attending the funeral. Finally, I hope these last few wks have changed BB b/c I do want to like him more but he's got to stop the bully & violent behavior.

Um, I think all the responses to your post were appropriate. You can't control how people will respond to a statement like "I don't like X." Someone may want to opine why X is the way things are or that they feel differently. A lot of people right now are off Brendan for various reasons. For some viewers this actually makes him a more sympathetic character. Me included.

I miss Lynsey so much! My heart breaks for Brendan and Cheryl. I can't blame Cheryl for being so angry at Brendan and I shudder to think about what would happen if she knew that Walker allowed Lynsey to die b/c of his hatred of Brendan. Brendan finding out about Lynsey's funeral was so sad. I know he is torn up and really blames himself! It's hard to watch! Finally, Cheryl needs to accept that Joel is just as rotten as she thinks Brendan is. He loves being a crook!
