352. History and Traditions of Ostara/Spring Equinox and Modern Traditions. Ostara MYTH BUSTING

I really hope that you enjoy today's video! Turns out there isn't a whole lot of history with Ostara, or the Spring Equinox because a lot of ancient cultures celebrated the solstices only. There is a little bit that has informed our modern interpretation of the equinox however, so I've included those pieces of information here too.

I typically spend time turning over my garden and mixing in compost. Spending time outside also works.

Why are there folk tales of Ostara with hares?

From what I can gather, it's because they become more visible in the spring as they mate and reproduce. We have to think about what pre-Christian, earth-centered people would notice in terms of the signs that a new season is on the horizon.

Hi, stopped watching after you said that Celts and Norseman did not really do much for the spring Equinox. I am afraid that you may be wrong there. I'm not saying that the Spring Equinox was the most important thing to them, but they definitely did do a lot when it came to giving it recognition. Research these huge monuments just to get you started: 1. Knowth - Part of a Neolithic site in Ireland, built for the Spring Equinox. 2. Loughcrew Cairns, another Irish Neolithic site built for the Spring Equinox. 3. Almendres Cromlech in Portugal, built for the Spring Equinox, based on the genetic make up of ethnic Portuguese people, (a study of 8,000 years of their genetics ) they are Celts, as the most prominent gene in the population is the R1B gene. And while we are on ancient peoples who were Pagans, you might find this video interesting. Granted, Robert Sepehr is a bit weird, but he is heavily loaded with solid information on the Ancients, ALL of the Ancients.
