The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to HH the 14th Dalai Lama in 1989.
The Nobel Peace Prize is a prestigious award that recognizes people and organizations who have made significant contributions to promoting peace and resolving conflicts. The prize was established by Alfred Nobel in his 1895 will, and is awarded by a committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament.
The prize is awarded to those who have done the most or best work for: fraternity between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the holding and promotion of peace congresses.
