Qatari football has lately been a lot more competitive but don’t be fooled. The quality is rather terrible, filled with easy goals, defenders who have bad positioning. It’s just that now, Xavi has transformed Al-Sadd by adding in Cazorla and developing an identity for their style of play. I really enjoy watching their possession based game but also they’re quick to play on the counter with Cazorla being a main distributor and Bounedjah being in superb form this season bagging goal after goal.

How he never got the recognition that Xavi and Iniesta got is truly unfortunate. I think he’s on par with them in terms of pure ability and vision of the field. He’s so humble to admit that Silva is better than him when to be fair, Santi uses his left foot just as well if not better, and he’s predominantly RIGHT footed. Magician in his class that wasn’t seen much in Spain due to vast talent in the midfield.

I remember when he played for Malaga CF in 2011-12. He was the second-highest goal scorer in our team (even though he is a Midfielder) and he helped us finish 4th thereby qualifying for our first time for the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League. It's a shame he left in the summer of 2012 to join Arsenal because we never recovered when he left us. We ended up 6th in La Liga 2012-13 and went on to reach the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League (not very bad) but I think we could have gone further in both competitions if he was still with us. Anyways, we have never managed to finish 4th again and therefore we never managed to play in UEFA Champions League. We have since been relegated and have been playing in the second division of Spanish Football for the last 5 years. It's really bad when underdog teams build a team only for their players to be poached by richer clubs. I think SSC Napoli will go through this in the summer of 2023 (after winning the Serie A 2022-23).Please pray for Malaga CF 😢
