Basically the old spring Bonnie and Fredbear suits have a springlock mechanism, so they can be animatronics as well as suits. When they are in animatronic mode, someone cranks the suit and the springlocks push the mechanical parts around the edge of the costume for room to climb inside. If the springlocks loosened, the parts would immediately snap back into place and the suit would go to animatronic mode. Moisture is what loosens the springlocks. Purple Guy climbed in the suit to hide from the spirits, but the leaky roof caused rain to make the springlocks fail, and the mechanical parts crushed him to death. Sorry it's so long, I'm just an avid FNaF fan!! 💖
