They do make a 48 row 30" planter. Look up a DB120. I think it's mostly because they want the y drops to always be hanging down. If you had them on the outer boom tips and folded they'd all have to be upside down and they'd likely break off along with the brackets. Keep it at 60 feet, never fold the outer tips out.

Hello, maybe this is a very basic question, but why is in all your videos the UNDERCOVER and the Y-Drop not used on the full boom width? Is it to heavy or ar there other reasons? Can they be used on a full boom width of 120 ft? Thanks for your answer and thanks for that great videos!

I think it is because they dont make a 120 foot planter (48 30in rows) in which the ydrops cannot follow the rows without knocking over corn unless u space your planter passes perfectly. Even with RTK your planter has drag that will cause spacing errors pass to pass. Weight may also be an issue for 120ft, but it may work if you use 60inch centers. We are going to try to run an 80ft boom taking 32 rows with y drops on 60 inch centers. To do this we are making a bracket that allows the y drops to pivot side to side, self adjusting when it hits corn for the outside 8 rows on each side and centering our machine over a planter pass of 16 rows in the middle. Whether it will work or not we shall see.

The yellow plane is putting out fertilizer. Figured a "professional agronomist" would know that. Aerial application has proven itself over and over for years. The only difference between a plane and ground rig is ground rigs run over your profit.
