I am a medium texture waver. I usually cut ATG with a 3 and then go back with a 2 closed (or 1 open) WTG to lay everything back down. But going ATG first definitely helps for a more even cut. People need to understand that waves are nothing more than curls laid down. If you know what your curl length is and don't cut above where your hair starts to curl you won't mess up your waves.
