​@@obates1 The GT my friend is a long and heavy car. While 362 horses is quite a lot of power for a small performance car, it's not really that much for a big boy like the GT. Now, you have to also consider that the main purpose of the GT is performance; it's an AMG-only car. You also need to consider that it starts at a ridiculous €102K and that's before (mandatory) options! So yeah, I'd say anything less than 400 horses is beyond little for this car.

Because they used an electric supercharger. I don’t think this engine is very efficient. They put out 400hp from a 2 liter 4 cylinder. This has 2 extra cylinders an extra liter. This is about on par with bmw 6 cylinder. If I was then I would have ditched the eclectic supercharger for an electric motor for the rear axel. And added an extra turbo to the engine. Allow the to get the car off the line with just electric and once the engine gets into an efficient rpm range cut the electric motor abs allow it to run of fwd and just the engine.

I think the marrying of electric motors to engines is good because of the potential power loss in higher rpm’s and higher speeds but, the Tesla plaid has somehow defeated this and is able to continually run at high speeds. So if your rly chasing performance I unfortunately think u have to move on from the ICE.

And I agree this doesn’t make sense. They have there high performance 4 cylinder I would just shove that in every amg and supplement it with electric motors. Or, I Remember a couple years back then talking abt adding electric motors to the the v8 and making that a monster. But still u have Tesla with no engine and making a bunch of hp and torque. I think we keep engines around in the performance setting for the nostalgia.

Hence why "premium" and "luxury" brands exist. Reality is, there's hierarchy in life and that includes items and services. For $114,000 AUD, I could of gotten a quick 6 cylinder M2 or a used V8 m3, instead, I opted to the 2020 CLA 35 AMG because it had enough power but better interior luxury than the BMW choices I mentioned, in my opinion anywyas. Actually, the 2020 interior lift is the exact same as thus AMG GT 43. Hopefully I'll be able to afford the high end AMG's 😌
