I'm not a great fan of the big squares but really love this one. Maybe might make a cushion.

You might try downsizing your hook (5mm to 4mm for instance) and substituting hdc stitches for the dc stitches called for in the final two rounds of the pattern.

Just made this lovely snowflake in November, Downsized to a 4mm hook the actual snowflake is 4" so have re-worked the backing. I worked between the points into the middle stitch of the 3 dc's. I put 3 trs into the middle st, ch1, sl st into the tip of the ch7, 3 dbl trs ch2 3 dbl trs into the corner. This meant that the snowflake points were not crocheted into apart from the very tips which made it stand out better. I edged it in half dc's. It is 5" sq. :o) :o)

I modified the last round using hdc and sc on the sides. After the corner, first gap 3dc, next 3hdc, next 2 gaps 3sc each, then reverse the st pattern to the next corner. Will have 6 sc in the center and will flatten the side a little bit and should look a little more square. I'm sure with blocking it can be persuaded to be square. LOL

Tip - Make sure your snowflake has 8 points.It’s a simple mistake but one that’s really easy make. My round of blue yarn was all wonky and I struggled to see why until I went back and counted.
@msara82307 жыл бұрын
Why is it so wonky? I think it's a flaw in the pattern, because it's so perfectly wonky on all four sides. Wouldn't it help to chain after each grouping when doing the second row of blue? It's not my tension, since the same thing happened to you. Those double triples are making the sides bow out. I hate to have to rely on blocking, because it's not permanent.
