I've got a top258pn ic. It receives 320V from the 400V capacitor, but when i check the low voltage area, i should have 12 and 5 volt, but i haven't... i only have like 1,2V and it fluctuate a LOT... help...

Thanks champ. I'm gonna try and retrofit a TOP IC into a Ryobi charger. their IC is unavailable. I'll disable all the protection stuff and see what happens. I got a feeling the transformer is faulty as when I test max voltage rise on the startup winding with my fluke maxmin fn I get only about 1v when I think it should be 12v or something. Do you think the initial surge of power shorted windings in the transformer or are they pretty robust and my fluke is just not fast enough to get accurate startup IC supply voltage?

yes it is possible that the transformer may damaged. nut most commonly the transformers are good , just the output side "battery management system" disables the operation of the PWM IC by means of the optocoupler. any short circuit condition, over current condition cases to disable the ic. you can try a working WPM IC to verify the circuit condition, wish you success

I designed a buck with: Vg=170 V=28. I=10A DIODE vf=0.7. F=40, 000Hz Calculations gave D= 16.84%. L=298uH. C=11uF. Now when I simulated the circuit I just got v=10.7, so I increased the D up to 70%, and yes I got V=28v and I=10A. But, is it not supposed that I should use the duty cycle calculated with the formula or is it that this type of topology only works good when the difference between Vg and V is not so big? I'd appreciate your help or opinion. Thank you.

i am in Jordan. shipping through corrier is toooooooooo expensive, that only both side shipping charges amount will equal to atleast 10 brand new power supply boards. you can check from DHL, if it easy to send and cheap from your country, then you can send it. but shipling from Jordan needs 50 Jordanian Dinar only for slip (as insurance) then packing + shipping charges. (aroung 250 grams electronic board needs 60 to 75 JoD) when receiving any electronic item, for small boards 32 JoD to 50 JoD excise and custom duty from income tax if you can consider these amounts + shipping from your couontry. and it is reasonable with compare to the yur circuit's price. then you may send it, i will fix it free for you
