Phantoms never had that design seen in the Flyers sweater, it was just a diagonal angle design at the sleeves to contrast with the white and orange or purple. it stood out, but it was a basic straight line cut rather than what you see on the flyers sweater

“giant coins”? dude, they’re buttons: as in the buttons worn on the blue jackets that the team gets its name from! 🙄 the Detroit D is a nod to the Tigers, who have used the old english font D for their caps since 1904 and the Vegas mail sweater is actually historically right as the golden “belly shirt” is a surcoat that shows the knight’s coat of arms- in this case, the tesm logo.

@@stevenaudet if he didn’t mention the mail it would not have clicked as being intended as a surcoat, but it’s just as you’d see if it was actual armor so is fitting for the nickname. and it’s Detroit: the old English D is iconic, just as the “wishbone” C is to the Reds. and as soon as i saw the belt buckle it made me think “button” since it’s a key feature of the blue coats

The Columbus jersey There’s a couple things maybe you didn’t see but that lighter blue that shows up several times is the color identifier for the Infantry branch than the logo, or the ranking signature above the sea is for captain And that central logo is one of the logos from a Ohio infantry unit I think it was like the other 35th Ohio or like the 63rd

and the “coins” are meant to be brass buttons which are a distinctive part of uniforms since the civil war. as for the unit…that’s not an Ohio unit: it’s the reverse of a confederate button! the normal eagles seen had a shield in the chest area with either stripes or a letter signifying the branch of service: cavalry, infantry, or artillery’s

Flyers fan here, and thats a big no for me. It's looking way too much like the chrome jersey we had and it's also dancing with changing the logo and we haven't changed the logo since 1967. So that jersey is a pass for me. And correct our minor league team started as the Philadelphia phantoms and played in the spectrum until we moved to the Adirondacks, then settled in Allentown known as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The phantoms have changed logos a bunch and I have enjoyed their various concepts.
