🤑$37 BFS REEL!!! SEASIR CAST-X Initial look

After using Seasir Cast X for around 4 months as my first baitcaster, I really recommend this reel for people who would like to learn to use baitcaster. I use light lure around which is around 3gram and heavy lure around 10gram. And i very rarely got any backlash. The only problem i got with this reel is that when it backlashes, line tends to go inside and wrap around the spool shaft. I also do not reccomend this reel for saltwater fishing. Sorry for any gramatical mistake because english is not my first language.

Hey earl! Yea it’s funny how cheaper reels are trying to emulate more expensive ones… I guess there is some benefit to it if the cheap reel looks good. I have the mansory and it casts great right out the box, will struggle for weights under 2 grams but it is so smooth that you don't even realise you're retrieving

Hey frank! That’s awesome to hear! I don’t expect sub $50 to cast super low weights but it’s good to hear it can cast around 2g. I was able to get the cast-x out today on the cu double and man color me impressed. It was consistent and cast a 2.5g easily. Handle is still a bit long for my taste but that can easily remedied or just something you can learn to live with. Bottom line is my initial impression is good! I’ve got some more testing to do but things look good for the reel!

swing arms cover plates are nice! You are absolutely right on cast testing. I have stopped measuring for that reason. but you can always try to be consistent for all your casting videos. I always try to use the same line and always spool up the same amount of line. fiddle and figure your setup and always report what u use. People who play around with BFS stuff long enough will find those information useful.

Yea I’d love to come up with a completely objective test but I dunno I’ve gotta lot to think about… in the mean time some personal thoughts and opinions can definitely help but people have to understand and know that everyone is different and that results will vary highly. Honesty and objectivity with a sprinkle of subjectivity/opinion is a good approach to reviews imho! Loved the jenko review and the breakdown my friend! Cheers!!!

It is hard to keep everything the same especially weather :). Line, rod, bait are easy to control, but casting action, angle and power etc. are not easy to keep consistent always

Awesome find. The Seasir Masonry came up randomly for me and it intrigues me a ton. It comes with hybrid bearings and dual spool. The specs look good and it's only $53!

The 146g makes sense if uses brass main gear, but if it uses aluminum then it is a little bit heaver compare with TSURINOYA and SOLOKING (All around 135g)

@@jinsuozhang9432 there are some things that I found with my copy of the Mansory that I didn’t quite like off the bat. So… it’ll be interesting to see what I find on the inside. Out of the box my copy felt very rough and not like a reel with 11+1 bearings. Not really sure what the deal is as I haven’t opened mine up yet but I’m always excited to do another teardown on video to find out what is going on. I do agree again that the dark wolf ultra and Acura reels are better but they also cost quite a bit more if you look at the amount these reels are asking for. Everything is relative to different people’s situations and wants/needs. In any case I do greatly appreciate your thoughts and opinions! Cheers my friend!

I approved what you were saying about the casting thing...some were exgerating the review of a particular reel cause it is sponsored...for me reliabity and user experience is the best way to based how good it is...even thou it does not cast as far as others yet it is reliable and fun to use it is a good reel...hoping for the casting video of yours in the future my friend and also the teardown of the zephyr so i have an idea how to open mine...👍🏻👍🏻for you my friend

One possible issue with cheaper BFS reels is the build tolerances. BFS throws light lures and uses light line. A reel with poor tolerances can allow the line to slip between the spool and reel frame. Will be interested in your experience.

Hey Eric! Yea I gotta got this thing spooled up and on a rod. Interestingly though I think I’ve only managed to get a link between the spool and the chassis maybe once while practice casting no less. Hopefully… things stay like that. Regardless, I’ll be sticking to 0.6 goh PE and so I’m wondering if that has something to do with my line getting trapped only once. In any case, we’ll see hopefullly sooner rather than later! Cheers my friend!

Hey Ben! Sorry I’m not quite sure what you’re requesting of me? Just to clarify are you asking me to show myself casting the reels? If that’s the case, I somewhat stopped for a couple reasons; rods variability, other factors such as line/reel condition/environmental factors/casting skill/etc. Also, legitimacy/honesty is something that is hard to show. Finally, everyone has their own “gauge” as to how far they can cast… cue the “I can cast that a mile” quotes. so… for these reasons I have not included casting comparisons. I want to provide more objective analysis rather than subjective… I will consider it more and see if I can come up with something that is more objective than subjective to help give an idea of how well a reel casts. It may be a while though as this sort of thing does seem quite straight forward. I hope you understand and cheers my friend!

It’s not quite an equivalent but the frame looks very close and is also manufactured by seasir. Look for the Leydun Mansory and also Seasir Mansory. My copy should arrive soon so I’ll be able to get a good look at it soon hopefully. Cheers!

Have a look at the YLT Nebula, Peter. That’s a reel that looks pretty nice too and seems well suited to bfs. It would be an interesting one to review I reckon, price is very close to DWU but whether it can perform as well as a DWU, not sure. Very sleek looking reel though, imho.

Hey Joao! That’s a good question. There are actual a few Daiwa Alphas models and sub variants like the Gekkabijin, the silver creek, the alphas air, etc. I haven’t actually tested any of these but there are a lot of videos out on them. To be completely honest I think you will be happy with any of these reels but you have to make sure they come with the features you want or you’ll have to add them yourself after you purchase the reel. What I mean by that is for example the alphas air and silver creek do not have drag clickers and have different mag brake systems. The gekka, I believe, does have a drag clicker. So… the features are very different between all the sub models. Out of curiosity, what are you looking for in a reel?

Agree on the cast test points you made. Some reels are more suited to certain anglers/styles of casters, as well as external contributing factors. I also find the whole process very boring to watch. In my opinion, go fishing for your cast tests, give a real world opinion of the reel on the water, both casting and reeling in fish. The content is also way more entertaining, as even if you're not that interested in the reel, you get to see some fishing content.

I’ll keep the fishing content suggestion in mind but I need to confess that I often forget to film while fishing but I also feel like fishing is sort of my “own” time. That being said, I will try to get and add some footage but don’t think I can very consistently haha. No promises but I’ll try haha. Plus… I’m not too sure how fun watching someone get skunked consistently is 😂. Currently, I’m something like 0-5 outings lol. What can I say I review better than I fish. Hey there laptopreviewer! If you can bump up to the Acura for around $55 I would go with that route. That being said, the cast-x can be had for around $23 currently and it’s a pretty solid deal at that price. Not a perfect reel but at $23 it’s hard to complain too much. Hope that helps and cheers!

Hey sanotsuke! It’s hard to compare the two because one is half the price… in terms of value for money? I think it’s hard to argue a $37 reel. In terms of performance? Acura/DWU hands down. If you can put some perspective into your question I can maybe give you my thoughts a bit better.
