OMG ! This is the first time I heard these old Filipino Christmas songs in Spanish, they all have the Spanish and Latin American beat. Filipino culture was really very different before, it was really more Hispanic than today. Sad that we lost so much of it due to Americanisation.

¡Felices Pascuas de Navidad a todos! BTW, during the Spanish era, Filipinos say "Felices Pascuas" or "Buenas Pascuas" as Christmas greeting. In Chavacano they still use the "Feliz Pascua" greeting while in Tagalog "Pasko" came from the Christmas "Pascua" word. Unfortunately many modern Spanish speakers do not use "Felices Pascuas" anymore. They use "Feliz Navidad". But if you go back to the time of Rizal, "Felices Pascuas" or "Buenas Pascuas" were the common greeting.

@@SamaKaNa"Pascuas" is where the modern Filipino word "Pasko" comes from.

@@SamaKaNa It means Easter/Passover but, where we get the term "Pasko" is from an archaic Spanish phrase "Pascua de Navidad" sa Ingles "Passover of the Nativity." Overtime the word developed differently from the Philippines and the rest of the Spanish speaking world, where the Tagalogs kept the "Pascua" part while the rest kept the "Navidad" part of the phrase. Hence why most Spanish-speakers would say "Feliz Navidad."

Increíble tesoro cultural, disfrute mucho las canciones, sobre todo las primeras. Ojalá algún día el español vuelva a escucharse en Filipinas de forma genuina, y se pueda a su vez dar a conocer esta historia olvidada de su país. Nada es imposible, considero que con la fundación de una ciudad hispanohablante en algún sitio del archipielago es la única forma de revivir el idioma español en Asia, único continente donde actualmente no está presente. Cualquier otra propuesta sería insuficiente o impracticable. Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷🤝🇵🇭

theres still a small amount of native spanish speakers (4000 of them), they speak the vernacular of philippine spanish, theyre in manila and occasionally in the visayas
