Today just turned into a FANTASTIC day. I have stumbled in to Lee Sklar’s you tube channel. I saw Lee play for the first time back in the early, early 90’s with Phil Collins. Being a fellow bass player (amateur) I said to myself, “I have to follow this dude’s career”. I have never ever seen such musical talent and skills. To me, Lee is to a bass guitar what Steve Lukather is to a guitar, the best of the very best. Last October I had the pleasure to meet Luke and get my picture taken with him. It was just surreal. This year I had the closest opportunity to get my picture with Lee Sklar, I had my picture taken next to one of his bass guitars at the HRC in Biloxi. Like with Luke, it is so heart warming to see that these amazing artists are as human as anyone else. Thank you Lee for sharing your talent with us. Fromm now on I will never miss a post. Also, as a physician, I so appreciate your kind words of recognition to all of us in healthcare. Lee, I will see you tomorrow!!

First, great idea for a book. I would buy one for sure. Second, so right about the road being fertile ground for collecting...whatever. Especially as you said, in the "early days". I was on the road pretty constantly from the early 80's until I finally decided to stay home in the early 2000's, and I would do the same thing. I would get up in the morning while pretty much everyone else was still sleeping, find out the best local places to find stuff (records, clothes, tchotchkes, musical gear, etc), and go buy the coolest stuff. Cheap. I picked up all kinds of great stuff, which my wife has now gotten me to wheedle down to just the "best" stuff. Keep up the great videos and stay safe. Peace.

I have a really simple story of meeting Lee. I used to play with a singer named Joey Bowen. Great singer. Joey brought us over to his house to show us a project he was brought onto. The rhythm section was Lee and Simon Phillips🎖🎖. I picked my jaw up off the floor and Joey was beaming. Maybe a year later I was the NAMM show and lo and behold there was Lee relaxing and chatting with someone. I questioned whether or not I was going to say anything, what would I say anyways? Anyways I said why not and told him how much his work meant to me and mentioned that I knew Joey and that he shared the video of the session and how much it meant to him. Im not crazy about putting people on the spot when it comes to handshakes but Lee reached out and shook my hand shook his head smiled and said thanks. Engaging, unassuming and relaxed he remembered the session well. He said “Joey yes! Great singer, great singer!” There are people you instinctively get REALLY good vibes from. I just put in my two cents and say that’s Lee.

Now I got hooked up to your YT videos, your stories, your musicality, your humanity! Great story and it definitely brightens peoples days, along with your excellent music and talent that you are graciously sharing with us all during this time. I and one of my coworkers have a similar relationship regarding the giving of the finger. Meant not in anger or malice but just as a friendly gesture to break the monotony of the day. Granted we have worked as a crew for nearly 10 years and are like family. Blessed to be allowed back to work this week, he was there so during lunch I walked up to him and smiled, then let the bird fly...He returned the sentiment with a grin on his face. That was our nod to each other that some things, no matter how confusing or irregular as the world has became now , would remain the same. A strange way to add some familiarity to the current situation but we both smiled and so in that it was worth it. Keep up the work you do and the music. You are doing so much for many people out here in the strange new world.
