If the electrostars retire in the future, i would like to see a farewell tour with Classes 375, 377, 379 and 387 going around the southern region.

This happened on TSW4 when a 4 car 377 coupled to a 8 car 387 to take to brighton EDIT:It wasn’t in free roam! It was indeed timetabled as the 08:43 to Brighton

why cant they run together in passanger service?
@Alec_667214 ай бұрын
Sorry for the incredibly slow reply. The internal components are closely correlated, which is how they can couple together and run out of service. But it is a lot more complex then that once attempting to run them in service. In relatively simply terms, the internal computers (which control the PIS and various other systems) don’t have matching software, which means at least one of the two units wouldn’t be able to operate as it should. For example, the PIS won’t work, and the guard/driver won’t be able to make an announcement on both units if needed, only the one that was “operational” (being drove.) This could cause safety risks, especially in an emergency incident, as anybody in the other portion would have no way of knowing what was happening. There are various other factors involved, but this comment is already too long, so I hope this sums it up.

@@Alec_66721 oh that makes sense, but can a GWR 387 couple with a GN 387 or GX?
@Alec_667214 ай бұрын
@@Farleigh1050 yes they can, and they can also run in service. At present GN actually have a GX 387(201) and used to have various other units too, they also have a few GWR units.
